MCS Coilover Rear for M2C
Looking for feedback from owners that are running rear coil overs on the M2C and specifically clearance issues with the rear sway bar bar and general clearance for replacement wheels.
The plan is to go with MCS coilovers, eibach springs (mains + tender), nitron camber plates and Apex forged 19's to clear the oem BBK. (19x9.5+28, 19x10.5+45 with recommended 265/295 30 aspect setup) Initial talks with my local MCS dealer did highlight potential clearance issues in the rear sway bar region and further measuring shows it is quite tight. The tightness appears to be more where the sway bar wraps around the shock vs the droplink. I did find this thread but appears the OP is no longer active LINK

I am considering MCS 2WNR for my car, and I asked MCS about the rear true coilover version. It's of my opinion that it's not worth the hassle of moving away from the divorced setup unless your car is strictly a track toy. There's the sway bar clearance issue and noise that gets introduced when running this setup.

It's good to see the message is consistent. Mine will definitely not be a dedicated track toy.
Since it's not a dedicated track car I was also contemplating the 2WNR but still haven't decided if I go with the remotes. The MCS dealer did mention that there was word that bimmerworld "might" be coming out with a fix for the rear sway or maybe a replacement sway bar. Details unknown at this stage.

mcvaughan that is correct. The lower bush in the control arm is offset about 10mm to help with the swaybar clearance issue. That what is being supplied as part of my kit

How do you like the AST coilovers? Have you tried any others? I've read that they are an upside-down design.

I had KW Variant 4 on my M2 Comp previously and I wasnt happy with them, AST is much more track focused, quality is perfect. They are upside down for better rear wheel clearance and to easy reach to their rebound knob.

I went with the softer rates since it's a DD mostly. Eibach 450F / 550R with Hyperco helpers. Fronts are 6 inch, but not sure about rear since my original quote from BimmerWorld was for the divorced rear setup. There's plenty of inside clearance up front for my Apex track wheels, so I'm hopeful I won't need spacers up front. From my brief initial thoughts, the rear is much more composed vs. stock. You'll be pleased.

I'm very similar to you. I went with swift primary and eibach tenders. 6" front and rear with vorshlag camber plates. Rates are geared towards more DD than track.
Rates are 560 F / 448 R with 114lbs tenders. This is with a rear CO setup. Since the front and rear are 6" if I want to step up the rates I can move the front spring to the rear and buy a new set of fronts etc. Are you sure u are running a softer front? Most CO rear setups are running a stiffer front coil. (Maybe I mis understood and u have divorced rear) Interesting note about the clearance with the apex wheels. Keen to know if you went with the 9.5/ET28 and what tires. There is another thread of an owner struggling with clearance with a set of AST's and similar offset from memory. Any photos would be appreciated when the apex are fitted

I have the Apex recommended sizes and offsets on Toyo R888R 265/30/19 and 295/30. I may try a test fitment this weekend to check clearance.

There is always a element of risk so if you choose to you can stick with the traditional divorced rear setup. Many are offering the CO rear and I haven't seen any negative reports from long term usage nor are any of the manufacturers recommending reinforcements are required.

After driving the car a bit; some observations.
MCS baseline settings are +4 compression +8 rebound, out of +14 and +18, respectively. These settings seem like a very streetable setting for the rear. It feels planted and not bouncy like the stock setup. Up front, it feels quite firm, almost too much for street, YMMV. I've backed off a couple clicks for compression and rebound up front, so I will see how that does for the comfort level. Aside from that, the performance on the street is much improved. Bumpy roads are much more tolerable. Look forward to getting on the track and seeing it shine.

Checking clearance up front with the Apex wheels it appears it may work without spacers, although tire deflection may produce rub. Maybe Expert@ApexRaceParts could provide some insight. I do have 5mm spacers on hand so I may run them for extra insurance.
