Exotics Racing in Las Vegas

Has anyone done this? Is it worth the money?

I was tempted to do a track day in LV, but ended up going on a tour of the Re Rock Canyon with World Class Driving. R8, Gallardo and XK-RS were my rides. Totally worth it for me, as we got to drive on some nice roads, not just round and round a track.

So you picked expensive rides to go on a tour with? Did you drive or did the companies employee drive?

I got to drive each car for ~30-40 minutes each. As my wife was in the pass. seat.

There's a Jaguar "pace car" front and rear, and everyone is connected with walkie talkies, and the Jag's control the speed and flow of the drive. Trust me, I doubled the speed limit a few times.

What was awesome was we chose the last Red Rock Canyon tour of the day, and although we we shuttled out to the RRC Resort and Casino to start the drive, the cars needed to be drive an extra 18 miles back to the Wolrd Class Driving showroom. And I was in the Lambo when we headed back, so an extra few miles in a Gallardo.....I was mildly amused.

Here's the tour I did:

Pretty sure it went up $100 since I did it (though that was off season in November)

One of the most fun car experiences I've ever had. I now I'll probably never get to drive a 458 on a track again so I took the plunge. The GTR and Turbo S were OK, but the Ferrari was on another level. If you do it you have to drive the 458 at least. If I do it again I'd do the Aventador and McLaren along with another ride in the 458. Great fun.

OMG, of all the times I've been to Vegas, this never came to mind. I'm SO gonna try it. My wishlist would be the 458, LP700, MP4-12C, and SLS. YOLO.

I figure if it cost $3500 for 13 different sports/supercars for 5 laps each on a track is about the equivalent of a monthly car payment for 1 supercar. I don't think i'd like to live with a supercar but driving the shit out of 13 is like a no brainer.

been to exotics in lv... had a blast doing it. But for those on tight budgets, it's probably not worthwhile. Prices start at $200 for 5 laps and go up depending on the car, BUT each lap only takes about a minute to complete. So you're pretty much paying $200 or more for 5 minutes of actual driving.

I did it last Spring. An absolute blast! I drove an Audi R8 V10 that was 2 days old, and a Ferrari F430. The instructors push you to the limit, and it is much harder than you would think. Going down the back straight in the Ferrari the instructor put his hand on my knee forcing me to keep it pinned until the last second. It was nuts!

If I were to do it again I would start with the slowest car (Porsche Cayman). When you get out there in one of those insanely fast cars and just pin it without having learned the track, things happen real fast. And you have an instructor yelling instructions at you, it can be a lot for your brain to process.

I can lose $200 a helluva lost faster than that at the tables and not have a1/10th of the fun. So $200 for 5 mins isn't such a bad deal, in Vegas...

Exactly. I spent $550 for 5 laps in the R8 V10, and 7 laps in the F430. The laps go fast, but the whole experience lasts a couple hours. It's pretty cool just being there and seeing / hearing those amazing cars.

Also, I would highly recommend doing the the ride along. I think it's $100. When I was there they were giving rides in a Gallardo Superleggara, and this guy was absolutely ripping. Everyone that got out of that car had an ear to ear grin. I wish I would have done that.

That's all the seat time you get for that money?

My friend did this and I came along to watch. Impressive outfit. Total car guys. Some of the pluses:

+ While you are waiting you can check out and sit in any of the cars. So it is kind of like an all access car show also. Keys are just sitting on the seats. The level of trust is very cool.
+ They push you to drive as fast as you can, as long as you build up to it. The level of trust is very cool.
+ Hearing all the cars roar around the race track is awesome. There is also a professional drifter that takes people on ride alongs making a ton of noise drifting around the track.

I was just very impressed that they took average dudes, put them through some training and then encouraged you to drive the cars like they were meant to be driven. I couldn't really believe it. Given all the instructions and the instructor riding along it is pretty safe as well.

The whole time I thought to myself... they would never allow this in California.

I was choosing between this and the red rock tour and decided on the latter. Spent hours driving 3 exotics. Had the 458 italia, lambo 570 superleggera, and some jag. Felt like Jayz and jermaine Dupre...the 458 was amazing..been over a year and the memory always brings a big smile to my face. Didn't get to push it hard but was fun cruising in the cars without any instructor next to you. So much fun!!

I have been twice; once on a Groupon for half-price. Look for those!

Yes it's expensive, and yes it's worth it. When you get to pass a Gallardo Superleggera in a new 458 going ~130MPH down the main straight, you won't question the price.

Consider how quickly you can lose $300 at blackjack in vegas, and have nothing whatsoever to show for it, versus a great memory of a howling V8 and a DVD of your session.

I did a few warm-up laps in a CaymanR, which was extremely informative, as I am considering one for my next fun car. You can really explore the car's potential on a closed course, so the personality traits come through.

FYI, they recently got a pair of McLaren 12C coupes, a car which most of us will never otherwise have an opportunity to drive.

Yes, you are spending $25 to $45 a lap, but as the great philosopher Clarkson once said, "Anything sold by the gram is going to be more exciting than something sold by the pound...."
