Minor CF scratch repair method?

Have a used genuine m perf diffuser coming today from eBay. Was a good price with two small scratches caused by stones. Both on the underside aspect of the diffuser.

One is tiny, from pics about width of one weave of the CF.

The other one covers 2-3 weaves at most from memory of the pics, can upload new ones when i receive it if helpful.

Any tips beyond using cutting compound to improve the clear coat appearance?

Epoxy resin worth a go or nail varnish? A Sharpie?!

I plan to ceramic coat or before going on the car using TAC moonlight.

Cheers

cutting compound will remove any tiny scratches, but epoxy resin is best for deep scratches or damage repair.

The other option is to coat the entire piece with some two pack aerosol clear lacquer, this will make it look brand new.

However if the damage is minor then clear nail varnish is probably the easiest option.

Well parcelforce couldn't be arsed to deliver today as it's Friday so now waiting till Monday.

Thanks for the advice though. How would I do the epoxy method? Tape around the scratch and apply a very thin layer then polish when cured?

Clear nail varnish if it's no where you can see. Try to avoid getting mud on the bottle unless you want awkward questions.

don't use masking tape anywhere near the repair, it will end up stuck to the carbon.

Just make up a little resin and use a small paintbrush, try to keep the resin in the scratch.

Once it has set (get quick drying resin) simply sand smooth with some 800 grit, work your way up to 2000 grit and then polish it.

For larger damage / cracks use some carbon sheet on the back, applied with resin, to strengthen the repair.

If it has all over damage re-lacquer with some clear two-pack aerosol

Cheers, I literally have five minute epoxy glue, not stuff for CF is that ok?

I'll probably try to polish both blemishes at first as nothing to lose and see how it comes up but obviously doing this off the car is going to be a whole lot easier!

Turned out a thin Sharpie was all that was needed then ceramic coating . The weave was actually pulled apart from impact but the CF not shattered. So sanding would not have done anything.
