2018 or 2017?
After sold my Boxster, I am looking for M2 now.
I did some research that the biggest difference between 18 and previous year is the digital dashboard.. and might feel hard to read in some condition. Also I know that the Idrive is slightly different. Can any 18 M2 owner kindly give me some suggestion above? Thank you!! |

You also have the option for LED headlights and moonroof if those are important to you. The center console is slightly different as well. Other than that though, and what you mentioned above, it's the same car. Can't go wrong with either.

I would just look for the best deal. With some 18 models still new on the lot, you may be able to get a good deal with the full maintenance and warranty as a significant plus. I picked up a 17 last July, but the LCI changes weren't important to me. Performance and driving experience are essentially the same between the two model years.

I searched extensively for a used 2017. Test drove a few but couldn't find one that I felt like actually buying. Found a new 2018 with no test drive miles equipped as I would have ordered one and pulled the trigger on it about 6 weeks ago. Got a pretty decent discount and am more comfortable having bought a new one. I personally like the LCI cluster and headlights, but I'm sure I would have been happy if I found the perfect 2017.

Sorry, I am new here and in the same boat but I was curious as to what does “LCI” means? Thank. I am leaning towards a 2018 myself. I love the LED light treatment personally.

Life Cycle Improvement, has nothing to do with if it is the last year of a model or not. It is a facelift.

The other acronym that gets thrown around here in this forum is "OG". I'm assuming that it means "original generation" to distinguish the older cars with the N55 from the newer ('19) post LCI S55. Am I right?

And it is a mild refresh of the model after the current one has been on the market for about 2 years. Tweaks to the bumpers, dash, few changes options, etc. not sure I've ever seen one after just one year.

LCI = Life Cycle Impulse...Which really means, it got a minor facelift in 2018.
I decided on a 2018 because I liked the improvements and it wasn't much more expensive than a 2017. Like many have said, they are the same car just with a few little (mostly cosmetic) updates here and there. Find a good deal on a clean car and ENJOY! |
