So....Is it worth the 10-20k to upgrade?

Now that the M2c's have been delivered and owners have driven for a few weeks/month I wanted to get some feedback. For those of you that actually owned a 16-17 M2 for a few years and upgraded to a 19 M2C was it worth the 10-20K difference that you had to pay?

I currently have a 17 LBB 6MT with Exec and Carplay that I paid MSRP for in late 2016 (55K). I believe my car is worth about 48-50K so I would have to shell out 11-15K difference to upgrade.

The car is my daily driver and occasional track toy when I'm too lazy to drag out the GT3. I also have a F80 M3 so already familiar with the S55, M3 seats, M driving modes etc.

M2 OG (I had a 5-2016 pre LCI) is more than good enough, but if you want(more than) a bit more grunt, a bit more playability and less sound: M2C

I can understand people opting for OG M2. Great car!
But I drive my cars pretty hard(already been to 135mph slowly not pedal to metal in M2C @ 400 miles) and do trackdays, then S55 is the way to go if possible (for me)

Cheers

Upgrade the turbo, get a nice flash tune or Dinan if you're concerned about warranty. You've now easily surpassed 405 bhp all for a lot less than $11-15k.

Well hp isn't everything to me but the S55 can make 500+ whp pretty easily which I think is fun for a street car. I'd love the motor in my F80 in the M2 chassis for an every day car, so much fun and still practical.

I actually prefer the looks of the OG M2 as well as the seats, would just be buying the new car for the S55, LED headlights, new gauge cluster.

Do you think the new car is more capable on track compared to the OG? I think the original M2 was great on track, just needed more grunt. The balance, braking and handling were awesome but on longer straights it was slow.

It's 9s faster on the Nordschleife than OG M2 in same hands(Christian Gebhardt)

If the OG M2 is your daily would you be using the M2C as a daily as well?

Yes and yes. Occasional track work as well. Really want a little more punch on the street in the M2 chassis.

Ring times are some kind of standard but not of great importance to me. I'd rather hear from other enthusiasts and fellow amateur drivers. What are your thoughts on your local tracks having quite a bit of experience with your old M2 vs. new one?

Why less sound? I thought M2C is louder stock for stock. I put a Dinan res delete and rear section on mine, stock was so quiet.

It's a EU spec with OPFs, supposedly much quieter than both OG M2 and US spec M2C.

Got it makes sense. I saw some youtube reviews where people said the car is immediately louder than the OG M2. I think the OG M2 is way too quiet. I was hoping the M2C would be louder stock so I wouldn't need to add an aftermarket exhaust.

My dealer offered me an M2C they had in stock. They said my M2 was worth 49K as a trade in and sticker on the M2C was 69K. Wasn't worth the $23K difference including tax and license to me.

I am quite happy with my OG M2 that is loaded with M Performance parts. And yes, my car is load.

Ummm..you watched the wrong reviews

People trying to justify their purchase, that’s all.

49 Trade in is good your car must be a 18? 69 seems like a high sticker. I’m looking at a 11.7 difference to go from my 9k mile 2017 to a new m2c same config as my 17 and I’m debating it.

Mine is a 2018 with 7,100 miles. The M2C has several port installed M Performance goodies. List on my M2 was 66K. MY M2 also had lots of port installed M Performance goodies.

Ah ok my 17 M2 was 55k sticker, the M2C in the same config is 61k sticker but I'd do Euro Delivery on this one so 58.7K. Can you get a port installed CF roof on the M2C now?

No, you can't and the rumor is it won't be available till July 2019.
