437m are so readily available now in secondhand section for M3/M4/M2, I see the 788m being easier to unload(regardless of weight). To be honest never liked the 437m either, dating back to M4 launch. They are boring split 5 spoke wheels. Nothing special, they are just there(round things the car rides on).

You guys are hilarious. I'm an outsider with a good amount of track time in different cars, some tuned, some stock. I am also looking to purchase an M2 or M2C, havent decided yet.
Those of you saying M2C is a lot of money for a small power increase, stop lying to yourself. Power increase is substantial, even in stock form. When you tune both platforms of course we all know the gap widens significantly. MSRP to MSRP, the price increase of the M2C is a bargain of a lifetime. This is why i think so many M2 owners are bitter on here because just a few months ago they purchased an M2 for MSRP and now for just $4k more you're getting a better engine, cooling, brakes, seats, mirrors, tranny synchros, carbon brace, etc. Weight gain. Yes, we know 150 lbs of weight gain sucks. Whether it'll affect the driving feel or not only time will tell. I think objectively the weight won't have any adverse effect on performance numbers, but will have to rely on the reputable journalists to tell us how it affected driving feel. Sound. N55 wins. No matter how much money you throw at the S55 to improve the sound it'll be mediocre at best. N55 is one glorious sounding motor. Yummmmm. Price. This is where it gets interesting. Seems like if you take time to search the M2 can be had for 3-5k off MSRP. This makes for a great value proposition because if after discounts you can have the M2 for 8-9k cheaper OTD than an M2C, it becomes enticing. Most people will never track their cars nor use even 90% of the base M2's capabilities, so I would say this one is dependent on what each buyer emphasizes more. Long Term. Again, hard to tell. For sure M2C will be made in greater quantity. LCI was a one year run so strictly speaking from numbers the LCI M2 will be more rare. Take it for what it's worth. Personally I'm leaning towards the 2018 M2. Ive ridden in enough M2s and the power is adequate. The sound is amazing and the driving feel is fine the way it is. Like many said, either car you end up owning, you will own one of the best BMW cars ever made. Be happy and don't hate. Cars ALWAYS get better and faster. No need to bash or hate because you're bitter. |

F87LUV totally agree with your review: the price difference going from M2 to M2C is not enough to justify the swap even if the M2C has probably a better engine and some more goodies. In my case, I still need to learn with the "old" M2 how to put power to the wheels and get ALL those ponies on the track. If we didn't have the old M2, the M2C would have probably been my choice however...

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1523109 His stuff is kept in pristine condition and at CAD $3,500, that's only approx USD $2,700 or about half of what BMW is going to charge you. Pretty sure you can get anywhere from USD $2,500 to $3,000 for those 788s - so should be close to cost neutral and you are getting M Sport Cup 2's with these...just throwin' it out there...leaves more money for things like tune and CF parts |

B) Buy different wheels and sell your OE wheels to us so we can have a set for "winter" driving conditions (in San Antonio area). When do you get your car? We'll be swinging through the Houston area on our way home from picking our car up at the Performance Center, probably mid-late December. |

Sorry but I don't understand the "can't justify the price difference between M2 and M2C" statement. If you don't wanna take a big financial hit by selling your OG M2 and upgrading to M2C, it's totally understandable but the $4K price difference between the MSRP of two models is a no brainer. In most markets, BMW is charging extra for the 788 wheels, the BBK, and the seats (Yes, I know 788 wheels are ugly but BMW still charging extra for them in many markets). If BMW were to do the same in US, we would have had to pay around $4K+ for the wheels, brakes and seats alone probably and the base price would have been very very close to the MSRP of 2018 M2. Again, losing money on your 1-2 year old, almost brand new car is never fun so it may not be a good financial decision in many cases but at the same time $59k MSRP of M2C vs the $55K MSRP of 2018 M2 is a bargain considering you are getting S55 with much better cooling, BBK, seats, and bunch of other upgrades.
Edit: I thought I have seen some complaining about the MSRP of M2C but I guess many people are just talking about going from M2 to M2C. Yea it's a tough decision in that case as I said but I'll keep my post for those who don't already own an M2 |

If you can truly feel the difference of 55kg then you must be a professional driver and you can offset the weight difference by altering your braking point when coming into an apex and accelerating just a tad sooner. There is no way 55kg will change anything on the street. Lol |

Turns out they made two more LCI M2s than pre LCI cars put together! There will surely be less LCI cars than M2C cars built though. |

I like the looks of the lower fascia and air intakes better on the Competition, but can't stand the grill...the way the corners are all pointy looking

People using such terms need to grow up. Criticism is okay. If I'd rather eat "Moons over My Hammy" at Denny's than "Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity" at IHOP, does that mean I'm bashing IHOP and that I hate pancakes? Hell no. (And truth be told, the Denny's coffee is bad, and the coffee at IHOP is swill. I suppose that makes me bitter?) |

I assume many buyers are comparing M2 new with discounts or used vs the cost of M2C. Not MSRP to MSRP. Take 5k+ off the M2 with discounts/incentives/rebates and it makes the choice more difficult. I guess another thing people think about is how much would it costs them to shed 150 pounds? Will you have to upgrade the exhaust of the M2C and wheels to live with the car? |
