Great improvements over the current M2!
S55 engine, M mirrors, M seats, new start button, new wheels and the new front bumper. Love every single update BMW has made.

I will be ordering one for sure if BMW changed the auto rev-match setting. I want to be able to toggle the rev-matching without having to turn off the stability control.

I think the S55 they stuffed into the Manhart M2 sounds pretty darn good:

The bumper slats are wider than I thought. nice place for road debris to sit.

I have the same issue with M4 seats though I love they way they look in the M4. Cannot say the same for the M2 with its multiple fabrics and those inserts. Probably would look better with the orange inserts. That start button looks tacky as hell too. Not a fan of badgepocalypse either. And what to say about that grille.. yikes.

Won't be upgrading that's for sure. Maybe next model. S55 fanboys should give up.. it sounds like crap. objectively. Let us civic owners have that at least.

It seems you can entirely turn off rev matching by simply disabling „start motor without clutch“ in the iDrive settings

.. that setting is not and likely never will be in the iDrive settings.

I feel the same way about the M3 seats. They look great but not for me.

I do envy those M3 mirrors. and that's all I feel I'm missing out on my civic.

no thanks to 120+Lbs extra weight up front, new grill, wheels, seats, and S55 sound (thx for confirming OP).

Glad there's now proper power from a proper engine and proper brakes. This is the way the M2 should have came.

Great for folks in line for the M2C as they can always dip to a P car since it's becoming overpriced for what it is. Anything at $70-75k+ OTD can get you more.

M2 owners should hope there's demand for the M2C on the second-hand market. M2C will always be chosen over the M2 at the same price.

Proper power. Yes 40hp was what was missing. My car with a with dp and tuner spins through 3rd gear

Always choose it over the M2? Not for me. I'd walk right past the M2c to get a pre s55 any day. Guess I'm the only one. If I wanted a another tarted up M car, I would have bought another M5.

So the seat bolster digs into your thigh resting on the dead pedal? Im about your size but wonder if it would be less of an issue with a MT, since the left foot is more active and spends a lot less time on the dead pedal (I'm planning a 6MT).

That's not an Idrive setting - that's only accessible through a coding app.

Why does everyone keep referring to the M2 as "civic"? That really needs to stop.

I have a feeling down the road civic m2 is going to be sought after much more than people now think.

Especially when N55 power mods are completely figured out in 2018, N55 with turbo/cooling/fueling upgrade can match a pump gas tuned s55 at 450-500whp mark. Beyond that level is dragster territory which F8X platform isn't very good at anyway.

I'll do something in next few month to show how.

They look like a cheaper version of the F8x seats. They look like Dakota leather. Lot of dimples there.

Yes sir! My car with active autowerke intercooler, charge pipe, full sig exhaust and 3.5bar map sensor with flash is hitting 400hp on the Awron at 22psi. Feels absolutely perfect.

The base seats are embarrasing for a M car. They barely belong in a normal BMW model.

Does anyone know if the ride quality will be more stiff, less or the same in the M2C? I sold my M2 because I thought it was too stiff as a dd for my commute.

All we know is the head of development said there was spring and damper tuning. What it feels like no one knows.

There was also some conflicting info regarding the suspension. This is what was stated in the EVO article.

Surprisingly spring and damper rates are unchanged – M chief Frank van Meel said he wanted to improve precision without sacrificing comfort. The dampers are passive items, because ‘the car doesn’t need adaptive dampers’, according to van Meel, although cost is also a factor.

I asked about the suspension in this thread to which MR stated the following.

Tag: The EVO article states the following, "...while at the rear the M division has used ball joints in the suspension for greater stiffness and precision." Can you please expand on this?

MR: There is less roll in the vehicle while steering. The base M2 had this quite a lot. The car stays more flat and is more compliant on the road without loosing comfort levels. The package is not as hard as the M2 with M Competition suspension. The suspension is further tuned to enhance the ride quality.

And then there's this article from Autocar UK which falls in line with what MR said.

BMW M division’s head of development, Dirk Häcker, said the chassis revisions provide the new M2 with “significantly improved response and more progressive on-the-limit characteristics” than its predecessor. “We have altered the steering mapping, changed the spring and damper tuning and recalibrated the DSC [Dynamic Stability Control] systems as well.“ said Häcker. “it is still the benchmark in its class in terms of response and reactions, but it now slides with greater progressiveness and enthusiasm.”

I would like us to get further calcification on the suspension as well, but wouldn't go as far as saying FvM lied. At a minimum he either didn't understand or was not fully informed. The takeaway from this is trust the engineers that designed the car over management and/or marketing.

Guys I'd like to clarify a few things as the OP. First my apologies for the quality and quantity of pics. I was very rushed as the event I was attending was a about to begin and they opened the car and started it as a favor. I literally had two minutes.

With respect to the sound it was hasty and irresponsible to say it sounded "shit". I don't want guys being overly influenced by this. The engine was cold and not under load obviously. The best way to describe it is that it sounds different. A very different tone to the N55 and I suspect the difference will continue to be there regardless of cold start, or any mode the car is in or any performance exhaust. It's a different engine and different sound. I'm very biased because I love the N55 with MPE it's my favorite attribute of my car. This is however subjective so others may love the S55.

I wanted to clarify this. The new car looks spectacular, simply in the very brief time I had with it my initial impressions of the sound and seats weren't great. My opinion may change if I spend more time with the car.
