I have black with blue dots in my my M2. For years I had them in my old 911 too. Best mats out there and made in GA to boot.

They are in SC, not GA... but U-S-A! U-S-A!

I had a set of Coco mats in my last car. The mat itself was really amazing and hard wearing. I found the edge banding to be poorly done for a product of this cost. The material is very thick with a rubber back so it is hard to make the banding super even.
I ended up ripping it off and had a local shop do a much better job.

I used to have them in my '73 911S . With a lot of use you'll have loose coco fibers all over your cockpit floor .

Yeah the edge banding looks poor in the photos above. The fifth photo of the passenger mat you can see they didn't do a good job finishing the band at the top middle of the mat where the end of the banding sticks out and you can see the end of the other side of the banding under it.

Thing is, I don't know how else they should do it. If you cut the banding shorter and try to do a "butt joint," then it tries to lift at the edges of the band, and can leave a gap / opening around the edge. I'd rather have it overlap and do full coverage.

They generally try to put that seam / overlap somewhere less visible - like way up in the footwell rather than back by the heels where people are more likely to see it when they sit down.

TBH you have to accept that they are not going to be factory mats and will never look the same, they have their own feeling. But they are ridiculously sturdy and well-built, at least I can speak to the "6.6" material (crazy tough), and the wool version is, well, wool - treat it right and it should last a long time too.

I can imagine that over time the coco fiber mats might start to shed, as the fibers age and degrade...

The issue is easily fixed IMHO.
1 - use a somewhat flexible banding material.
2 - use a narrower banding material.
3 - stitch closer to the edge of the mat.

The wider no flexible banding mean that you will always get that "gathering" on tight corners. Stitching closer to the edge will mean you don't need a wide band meaning way less gathering.

Pretty sure they don't do #3 because they don't want stitches to rip through the material. They don't do #1 or #2 because they don't want to use weaksauce edge material that will crap out over time...

My M2 is garaged during the winter.
I trade out the custom BMW mats in my 328i with cheap carpet mats (e.g. Target or other) as I don't like plastic ones (WeatherTech).
Why ruin expensive mats with water, sand, salt, etc.?

I ended up ordering a bunch of samples.

The spotted ones shed A LOT. The blue is a bit darker than the M2 stitching, but can't tell in most lighting unless you look for it. They're also quite thick. Double the thickness of the other samples at least.

The one I really like is the graphite woven vinyl. (middle right) It's really thin, super durable, and doesn't shed. It has a utilitarian look to it that I feel suits the M2 well. It also has a really dynamic slight shimmer to it. The color matches the carbon trim almost perfectly (other than the shimmer). Which I don't really care about it matching just wanted to point out. The black woven vinyl one next to it would be good too, but I'm just in love with the shimmer and how dynamic the graphite one is.

I'm gonna order a set in a couple weeks (gotta make sure I pay my taxes first lol) Then I guess it takes them 3 weeks or so to custom make them.

I assume your M2 is Mineral Grey since you mentioned black/grey.
I had cocomats long ago in a non-BMW, but they were probably of lesser quality back then. Eventually the fibers started to break and dirt would catch in the looser/bigger strands.
How about the following all-weather for MG?
https://www.bimmerworld.com/BMW-M-Pe...235i-228i.html
If I were replacing the OEM mats in my Long Beach Blue which doesn't see rain or snow, I like the following:

Yea, Mineral Grey... and that's the reason I'm going with the woven vinyl mats. All the wool samples I have seem like that would get torn up with use. I have a sample of their nylon 6.6 too (top sample) which seems like it would hold up A LOT better but I think it would still stain/soil over time. The woven vinyl isn't absorbent and I think will only require a wipe down with a soapy sponge to clean it.

I have a set of weathertech's that I use for winter, since my car is driven year round.

I don't like the design of the M Performance mats. I think it's distracting and I don't like the M Performance logos either. I've also seen used ones for sale here and they get soiled/stained. Which I'm sure can be cleaned, but I want to keep down the amount of cleaning time I have to do where I can.

I don't like the logos on the IND ones and they are too similar to the OEM ones to justify the $300 on. Might as well use my OEMs.

Had cocomats in my 1M. Very sturdy but the rubber heel pad ended up being marked by my foot over time. I ended up using a set of Lloyds luxe mats along with a Pedal Haus metal heel pad. I have ordered the same combo for the M2 as well, still need to find the time to install the heelpad.

Hmm, thanks for the heads up. I have rubber winter mats for my Saab and I use Forever Black dye in the past to get them looking new again. Which I think they discontinued and only sell a gel version now. But I'm gonna see if Coco will make the mats without the rubber heel pad for me and consider that.

Btw, here is a video showing the shimmeriness of the woven vinyl samples.

I ordered mine on March 14th, so over 3 weeks ago. The order confirmation email I got says they will ship in 2 weeks, but their website says 2-3 weeks. Either way, it's still passed 3 weeks.

I called them a couple days ago for an update, the woman said they will arrive early next week. So we'll see.

I ordered the graphite woven vinyl without the heelpad.

I wish Lloyds had the rights to use the BMW logo as they have the rights for a lot of automakers but not BMW. They are by far the best carpeted mats I have ever seen.

Really interested to see yours in the car. Do you have a picture of the sample next to a dry carbon piece in the M2 interior by the way?

Wow the Graphite really does come close to matching the shade of the carbon trim. Did you go with standard or blue stitching?
