BMW M3/M4 F8X Carbon Fiber Strut Mod on the BMW M2
When I saw the following threads I was inspired to get this done to the M2. I thought it would not only look good but would be a great way to do some OEM plus mods to make the car a bit tighter.
Steve_Jr's thread on his F30 - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1234698 And this one from Europe http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtop...710096a1ec1bf5 I believe the below are all the parts needed to do the M3/M4 F8x Carbon Fiber Strut Mod on our M2's. Hex Bolt - 11-28-7-839-136 x 6 Guide Sup - 31-30-7-853-702 x 2 Hexagon S - 094C3 - 07-11-9-904-141 x 6 Torx Screw - 31-10-6-859-809 x 10 Fillister - 07-14-7-162-464 x 2 CFRP strut front end 1EA : 51618061631 Alloy Strut brace (left steering) 1EA : 31122284855 The tricky part was hoping that the eventuri carbon fiber air intake would fit. Jesse my mechanic took the hold out and reversed the bolt on top to make it fit nice and tight put some padding under the high points that would touch or potentially rub. All in nice and tight and looking good. Some cutting was needed on the cover and some trim pieces More pictures to come. Last edited by Detailers Domain; 03-14-2017 at 08:25 PM.. |

Magnificent!!! Can you divulge what was the cost of the parts? It looks like adjustable camber plates won't work with it though.

This is what I came up with looking it up through ECS tuning. Quite a pretty penny. Would love to know if that's the ballpark the OP paid in parts.

How does the car feel with those braces? What do you think it actually helps brace? I'm just trying to imagine the physics and forces (albiet, not a structural engineer) that the braces help stop. Twisting of the front-end at high-g turn-in? Would it help keep camber geometry at speed?
The shock towers are are already braced right...? |

The M3/4 brake will likely just give you slightly better steering responsive if any and give you better feedback from the road. |

I had thought about this but looking at the removal instructions on the M3/M4 board just to change the stock air filter looked to be a bit of a PITA. What's your thoughts related to R&R for maintenance work?
It also looks a bit belt and suspenders with the stock M2 braces. Have you thought of removing them and only running only the M3/M4 brace? |

Try this on for size http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtop...brace#p1119998 "Bluebro" has now moved from EB M235i to LBB M2 and has retrofitted the M3/M4 alloy and CF brace on to his M2

Acexxon is developing a bracing solution if the high cost of carbon is not your thing. Actually a little aluminum in your diet is a good thing. Hope to be trying out a set soon on the NC mountain roads

I'm thinking of replacing the stock rear steel strut tower brace w/the
The newer strut tower brace (31127855855) is also showing on the M235i racing and M4 GTS http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...55&series=MOSP Anyone know if the 41008417085 strut brace (U shaped one) used on the M235i racing is also carbon fiber or some other material? |

besides ECS Tuning do you guys know where else I can buy this M4 CF Strut from including all the necessary parts to install? I would like to buy a set for my m2. I went through ECS Tuning website and entered the part numbers there is no picture of the actual part on the site for me to verify if the one they are selling is truly CF or not.
many thanks

The guys that have received your M2C dose it come with the black strut tower reinforcements? [*]reinforcement spacers, left & right, 31302285700 , 31302285701 - these look like they fill the gap and reinforce the strut tower.[/LIST]This combo looks like it will add the majority of the stiffening, if any, over stock.
