Battery charger recommendations

Long story short, I was in between switching my BM3 map, and got an error at 99% it wasn't fully installed. After going back and forth support, figured out battery charger is needed. Car is not starting.

So any recommendations on charger will be helpful.

You want a bench charger that can provide plenty of amps

DEWALT DXAEC80 30 Amp Bench Battery Charger: 80 Amp Engine Start, 2 Amp Maintainer, 120V AC Outlet, 3.1A USB Port, Battery Clamps https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XDJZC1M..._hLpVEbGB64G2D

I use this one that's rated for 30 amp continuous. Used it for a 2 hour flash session when I was flashing my idrive unit to be upgraded and compatible with full screen CarPlay

Do you just use the recond feature for continuous charging?

you mean as a trickle charging feature? Or are you asking for during an ECU flash with BM3?

if the former then no, I have a separate CTEK charger that I use for trickle charging.

If the latter question, then no you use the standard full charge feature during flashing

yeah use the standard charge feature. It's the large black, circular, protruding button. Works perfect for flashing

Plugged it in, I can't even go into aux mode, although it's showing 11.9V, it needs a full charge I guess. Strange battery was absolutely fine yesterday morning lol.

Must have been really weak. I'm guessing you haven't driven much due to shelter in place haha

Hahaha, drove about 40 miles yesterday morning, and decided switch the map. I am thinking with all new features that BM3 is running we will have to use external charger during tuning from now on.

I just picked up a battery tender 4 amp off Amazon for this purpose. More to keep power stable if/when I switch maps.

That's all I use. Just make sure that you battery is in a full state of charge and the tender is in a float state prior to flashing. I have a 1.5 amp battery tender and have flashed ECUTEC 13 or 14 times and never have had an issue.

Good to know! Wasn’t sure if I picked the correct one for the job.

I've got at least 8 of these black and decker trickle chargers I've picked up off amazon for about $20. Work great for me and don't break the bank
