I just updated to 5.7 and went out for a quick drive, it's a relatively nice and cool tonight (60F)
Noticed a couple of things right away: Exhaust sounds muffled compare to 5.5 (I didn't update to 5.6), burbles are there, and still very loud... The car pulls harder than before and I can tell that right away. I've had BM3 since the first OTC map was available and this 5.7 is a rocket. I don't know much about data logging and what not, but I assume Halim@HCP has tested everything and made sure all is safe? My AWRON gauge picked up a max exhaust temp of 1300 degrees C. Which kinda surprised me considering I wasn't even driving that hard, then again Halim pointed out a while ago that exhaust temp reading from the AWRON gauge may not be accurate. The power is there, the muffled exhaust sound just sounded awkward and I hope it's not something we should be worried about. Will hit the track on Monday and see how it goes under warmer weather and more extreme conditions. I too prefer consistency over max gain. |

I can't be sure but i also thought the exhaust note sounded quieter and muffled but figured it could've been my sport cat taking a hit from a bit too much burble. Going catless soon though so we will see. Still not 100% sure but reading your comment got me thinking again |

Muffled sound? Maybe you should try to open the exhaust flaps in sport mode in the config menu for the OTS map. |

Not sure how bmw does it, but on my Mazda it use to calculate the egt temp from the cat temp which isn't the most accurate. A lot of guys would get a new manifold with an egt bung welded in for more accurate egt temp.

Surprised more M2 guys dont look into DEI Cry02 FMIC sprayer...This was the end of the C02 bottle and even last summer if I sprayed with the DEI water sprayer first than sprayed it hard with c02, standing I got FMIC temps to -35*F...According to JB4 (Which I had w/ the BM3) As a back end flash, using alot of Co2 driving got IAT's down way under 100*F on the hottest days with the hardest . Combined ange of thhe turbo w/ 7" VRSF I/C and Open down pipe cutoff valve and higher octane through straight MS109 or even Boostane It moved the whole efficiency range of the turbo 2psi...I feel with an n20 tmap and the right weather i couldve run 22+ psi to redline without the dme having to pull timing...Ill get my c02 filled this week and do some logging with a frozen FMIC, and Open 3" exhaust dump vs exhaust shut and n c02 to prove the enormous power gain and disappearance of the tiny amount of lag...

Random question but I may as well ask it here but what is the difference between 'cold start (cat heating)' and 'cold start RPM'?
Ideally, I'd like to keep the nice 'roar' you get when turning the car on but I want to prevent the 2-3 min process of annoyingly loud idle RPM. Is that possible to achieve with these settings? |

So I tried the new update at the track and on the highway. Please try 7th gear around 3000 rpm, something is wrong there... anyone have the same issue? It’s like I couldn’t hold the boost nor gain speed and rpm won’t climb

Other than that, it performed pretty well at the track today (mostly 2nd~4th gears only on this particular small track). I did however get transmission warning and that's the 2nd time I've got it since 5.5. Could this be switching back to the standard M2 transmission instead of the GTS transmission coding? I am running 93OCT Stage 2. |

Although in my experience it isn't as extreme as the oem loud roar which shoots up to like 1800rpm on the initial start up. It hits around 1500 I think. Still quite nice |

Halim@HCP, is 5.7 non-(AGG) essentially 5.6? I actually prefer lesser burble than my current 5.5 but didn't get a chance to download 5.6 before it was taken down.

I agree w the other comments here. I updated from 5.5 -> 5.7 Definitely feel more torque. Traction control working harder. I'm in FL where it's hot and humid so I added a bottle of octane boost. Lucas booster so it probably went from 93 -> 95ish. Definitely pulled hard all the way up. I will have to bump the SPORT burbles up higher to match v5.5. The transmission feels smoother shifting. More like the ZF8 on a M240i and less like DCT in comfort mode. Car doesn't buck nearly as much over 1st and 2nd gear speed bumps. I might try the GTS trans tune and see how that goes. Overall I'm happy w the update. The PS4 275s can't really handle much more torque, but you guys don't worry about that and keep squeezing every last drop out of the stock turbo
