M Performance front lip install question

Quick question for anyone who has installed the M Performance front lip. I just got mine in today and thought, well that looks easy, but apparently there is 4 bolt holes that do not align with factory bolts under the front. The two in the center of the lip, and the last bolt hole on the R and L side. I assume a self tapping type of screw is needed, but none came with the lip.

Just looking for advise on what anyone who has installed one of these did, should it have came with these 4 bolts?

I did a few searches but couldn't find anything on how to install. Really wasn't surprised as it looked really simple until these 4 bolts...

Thank you,

Chris

Yes, what you're experiencing is correct. For the two on the L and R sides, i think it's unnecessary and just didnt use those holes. For the two front you need to drill two holes.

This is perfect! Exactly what I was needing. Debating on using 3M tape for the adhesive.

If you ever want to be able to take it off, use 3m tape

Would use thin, double sided 3M tape. You can get it at Home Depot.
Can't believe people keep getting these splitters and my parts guy can't get them. I'll probably use existing screws and then 3M tape. The front holes will probably show if you remove the splitter later.

I got a quote recently from Brian. Really good prices and I already bought my 763M wheels there. Super fast shipping and great packaging.

I buy everything from Brian. Talked to him on the phone a few times - great guy. Highly recommended.

Honestly, i would look for thinner double sided tape than the 3m.

First, the groove for the tape is pretty shallow and you dont want the tape to be pushing the lip away from the bottom bumper.

Second, with all of the bolts being used to attach the lip, the tape doesnt do all that much, or need to.

Look for some poster tape. I compared that to the 3m and it's at least as sticky (felt more sticky)

Do you also prefer tape for rear spoilers vs. the recommended Betalink?

My M-Performance spoiler used 3M tape for installation. The thing about the 3M tape is once it cures to the surface, (15-20mins after bonding) it is very very difficult to pull apart, you really have to use fishing line to tear the foam part away to get it off. I used it on my front lip install and it was perfect, you simply install it where they instruct for the adhesive glue to go, it is perfectly recessed for the 3M tape listed earlier in this thread. I would never trust anything but this tape for this type of application.

Yup. 3m tape is the proper tool for the job!

Reviving this thread instead of starting a new one. Have any of you guys tracked your car that have used 3M tape? I’m curious if it will hold up consistently at higher speeds versus the Betalink adhesive.

Can't speak from personal experience, but from what I gather pretty much everyone who does installs themselves uses 3m tape. The dealerships will use betalink. Haven't heard of any issues. The stuff is pretty well stuck on there.

Wait so are you supposed to bolt and use tape or just one or the other?
