All of this is great because I’m pretty sure I was going to throat punch the next sales guy who tried to tell me “manuals are too hard to sell.” |

I’ll keep my OG forever, just like hearing about the used car market dynamics that are going on, in case we upgrade our BMW SUV. |

I posted an excerpt on 2-13-2020 from the monthly trade-in offer for my 2017 M2 from my local dealer.
"You have a special opportunity to upgrade to a new 2020 M2 Competition Coupe. We estimate you have $34,675 in trade equity toward your new BMW—simply by trading in your current 2017 BMW M2 Coupe." Today's letter for a 2021 M2 Competition says "Trade in your current vehicle and receive up to $38,432 to use toward your new car." That's a $3,757 increase, but I assume the 2021 M2 Competition cost has increased over the 2020. NOTE: I don't plan on trading mine in. |

Used car prices are nuts (for some). I just sold my Mustang GT to Carvana for more than I paid for it, new, with taxes, tags, fees, surcharges etc. a year ago. I just couldn't pass it up!

Been on the hunt for an OG M2 myself so this is an interesting thread.
Would a 2016 w around 40k miles priced around $40k be overpriced at this point in time? Seems an ok price to me but I have not been watching these that closely. Prices are up on most every other desirable Bmw so I wouldn't be surprised if the M2 falls into that category as well. Thanks! Matthew |

Used car shortage is doing funny things.
Last year dealer would of offered me 40k for my 2018 and he just offered me 48 500..

$40k with 35-45k miles seems to be the average in my nationwide search. There are of course outliers on either side of the price range, but I agree that seems to be the going rate. I hope to find a clean example in the $35-40k range, and have limited my search to 2016/7's. Although I continue to find 2018's in the low $40k's. As far as "overpriced", that is all in the eye of the buyer/seller. I have time to wait until the right deal comes along as my CPO warranty doesn't expire until summer 2022. I keep hoping to find a local M2 owner who is going to trade in, and I can swoop in and get close to a trade in deal. I doubt that will happen, but you can always dream.... Off to comb the webs for OG M2's... josh |

Thanks Josh
Agree on all thoughts. Had found one somewhat local to me only to find out that it's owned by a 23 year old as the fourth owner. Hellllllll no. |

The OG M2 is and will continue to be a Goldilocks car. It's just right.
Styling is balanced, from the perfect rear deck lid emblem to the power from the N55. They haven't made many of them and you can buy the car w/a 6MT. The car is a keeper! |

Used M2 values are def up in a substantial way. I would expect many m2s to be below 35k if COVID never happened. All used cars are up it seems. More specifically, look at 991 911s! THey are going for crazy prices. I think this will all eventually calm down and m2s will start to depreciate once again in about a year or so. Especially more once the G87 M2 is announced ( and it doesnt have the m3 grill)

holy crap y'all weren't kidding! I bought mine used last year in March when everything shut down and dealers were struggling to get rid of any car, so I got a heck of a deal.
A year and 6000 miles later, because of this thread I got curious and went to Carmax as well as submitted a form on Carvana and I can actually make a little profit right now; or sell it privately and make even more. So tempted, but currently no other car interests me to replace it, oh well. Tis a great time to sell, but not so much to buy |

There was an article in the Boston Globe this week about the lack of new car inventory at dealers and the increased values in the used market (chip shortage, etc)
There were a couple quotes from local dealers that they were not discounting due to lack of inventory, so while you may get more in trade-in value, customers were also paying more for the new car. Obviously depends on make, model, region. Last edited by jkoral; 04-23-2021 at 12:10 PM.. |

I have mine on auto trader, would sell for the right price, but have had very little interest.
To the point of trade in value, ive been offered low 40s, so the private party price needs to beat that and my tax incentive, imho. Its a weird market, I would not mind a new M2c, but none in stock around that I am interested in. But I will say, I bought the OG because it didn't have the fancy M engine and didn't want the possible issues around it... Not that that thought bears any real weight...
