First USA review Motor 1

https://www.motor1.com/reviews/45174...s-first-drive/

First review that doesn't complain about the lack of sound.

Cheers

Kind of strange for them to not reference the M3/M4CS hp when making this statement?

Here, the strategy yields a small coupe with 444 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque from its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine. While the CS borrows the S55 mill from the M3/M4 and shares it with the M2 Competition, it outguns both – the bye-gone M4 packs 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, while the lesser M2 nets 405 hp and 406 lb-ft. In other words, this is as powerful as a small BMW can get until the next M3 and M4 arrive.

Also, pointing to a 2018 article about an M2 CSL? Seems like sloppy reporting to not know what the latest is on that...

Certainly seemed like a generic review. Folks are very split on the adaptive. I wonder if it takes a bit to break in? It did help me to see the cost perspective a bit better. This US spec car is $96k. I get fixated on my spec being $86k. Pricey, but a good bit of headroom between cars it's compared with. I forget that DCT is almost 3k to equip.

Agree Dave, I (arbitrarily) set as a goal keeping the off-the-lot price (destination, taxes, etc.) to <$90K and happily was able to do so. No interest in DCT, and after consideration decided against CCB as something fun to investigate as a future upgrade. 80-something seems a far cry from close to $100K. Only costed option was the MB paint (ridiculous, but anyway).

The paint upcharge is kinda funny. I'm glad I didn't add more options. I keep spending as is. I keep adding more and more ppf. Ceramic coat. Ceramic window tint. I'm tinting the reflectors because I don't want them blacked out, but shadowed into body.

yup. Planning full PPF and tint here, too. Will be keeping the car outdoor (looking into carport like options, but may simply be a shade tree). Budgeting another $10K for all of that. $100K total is in the budget.

Motor1 scrapes into my feed for news and generally speaking its rumor mill and poor reporting in favor of clickbait and sensational headlines. They get decent spy shots, but I've seen little else to back up their reporting over their years. So while excited to see North American reviews start, not really the source I'd take much stock in. The last paragraph was almost all garbage!

Hard to take seriously. Thinks the M2 CS is MY 2021 and that the CSL rumor from April is still alive.

I think they are also the source of the s58 DCT Supra rumor.

......."That stiff suspension is a joy through corners, where it exhibits precise control over body motions. The steering reminded me of BMWs of old – lots of weight, a linear character from on-center to full lock, and a slight numbness. The chassis, though, makes up for the steering's lack of chatter, with the little sensations from the tires finding their way to the driver's backside"........

I like it already!

Agreed with you all about everything... Motor 1 it's a good all news hub, but is lacking on the reviews. They tried to keep it short and simple but don't manage to make the verdict clear. Maybe it's because it's a first drive? And wet track?

At least I'm excited to know that the lack of filters does make the difference in the CS exhaust over the competition.
