Yeah, I have an electric impact - amazing tool, especially when taking wheels on and off multiple times (as I did because I adjusted my alignment due to the new camber).

The sketchy part is that KW and BMW do explicitly say to not use impact guns to remove/install top nuts as it could cause the shaft to spin and damage the seals, however Vorshlag disagrees with this, and explicitly says to use it. I happen to believe Vorshlag and don't think that the shaft rotating a few times will hurt (obviously it was designed to have some play in it, otherwise it wouldn't rotate) - but if any issues come up, I'm sure KW/BMW will point their finger at you if you ever mention an impact gun.

Well... the shaft rotates every time the steering is turned? Maybe just use the impact gun to get the nut started when undoing. Although, when tightening, once you've got the nut seated (using the tools appropriate to both the shaft and the nut), it's possible to just use a torque wrench to finish off, so a correctly set gun ought to be fine?

I can't even get a passthrough socket on my TCKline plates. Found a narrow wall regular socket that works and just hit it a few times with the impact until it sets. Been doing this for years on various cars and never had a problem.

I can see how it could be a problem, but never seen any ill effects personally.

That's reassuring, thanks I did have a moment of, "Am I really doing this", but I already had my suspension disassembled so I went for it haha.

If I bought MPS with intent to also add camber plates (which obviously can be done, just like KW v3), I'd be super pissed once I learned you have to add the stock dampers back on in order to actually use CPs

Just came back from Laguna Seca this weekend - new wheels+tires and CPs felt awesome! I'm running -2.8 camber up front and the turn-in ability is immense, I don't think I understeered at all (the rear usually stepped out first).

I’m thinking of getting Vorshlag CPs to pair with my MP-Coilovers. How are they holding up? Any additional noises? TIA!

No additional noises unless you hit something jarring on the road - then you will get a more direct clunk sound, but I think is is expected because of the change to more solid bushings.

No funky sounds from mine. I'm not running coilovers though, just shorter Dinan springs and I kept the rubber boot which isolates the spring seat a bit.

Honestly, I am a little confused - I know it is a 5-bolt but what strut type is it?

I just checked the top nut and its not 19 or 22 - an 18mm multi-point socket felt like it fit the best.

Anybody have these cambers and can provide a suggestion on the specific strut type to select?

Thanks
Am about to install vorshlag CP, and M Performance Suspension. Which Nut are you supposed to order? On one drop down menu it says choose 12 or 14 MM Shaft. On another it says 18 or 22 MM nut. Very confusing.

I would just contact Vorshlag and have them ship you both...I honestly can't remember which size shaft I had and it may also be different for your version of the M Performance Suspension

When you figure out what you need for the Volshag's with the MP-Suspension, please post it up here.

I just ordered new wheels & tires for my toy, and suspension is next on the list!

TIA--

MPS and Vorshlages

After speaking to vorshlag engineer, I told them I would be using CP's on Stock Suspension, and possibly MPS when it arrives in mid February. He explained one uses the 19mm top nut and the other the 22mm top nut. He told me he would send out both nuts with my order. Any questions call them, they answer the phone promptly, and are very helpful.

This is the way.

Does anyone have a picture of the top nut of an MPS install with latest Vorshlag camber plates? Mine were installed by the dealer, and have very different (2mm diff) and seemingly little thread engagement[IMG][/IMG]

Vorshlag has 3 other brass colored nuts they call" Long Reach Nuts," depending on which Strut is used. Yours appears to be one of them. The threads go down much further, even though you can't see them, they are in contact with threads. Go on Vorshlags install video to see them.
