This gives me confidence to use my DJI over here. Certain tourist areas have "no drone" signs. LBB looks very nice

Fantastic journey! I'm going my ED next June. Two questions:

1) Did you find Stelvio busy during the time you went? I'm planning to do Davos-Stelvio but I've been getting mixed feedback on whether or not I should bother due to the traffic.

2) How do you get pictures of yourself driving the 'Ring? Did you have someone wait there or are there people taking pictures that you can buy afterwards?

That nurburgring shot head on of your car gave me goosebumps. Kudos to the wife for playing ball on the photo op.

June is normally better than July or August as less people are on holiday. Get there early and you'll be fine. Last time there a tourist bus got stuck on one of the hairpins up high and caused quite a back up. We were on bikes so got around it.

Plan on doing Susten, Goddard, Grimsel, and Furka if at all possible.

We had a hotel in a nearby town, Bormio. The hotel was La Genzianella, and it turned out to be one of my favorite hotels of the whole trip. Because we woke up (and left) before sunrise, the roads leading up to / away from the pass were essentially empty. And, as you saw, we were on the pass, driving, at sunrise.

The warnings about traffic on Stelvio are so strong and so frequently given, that we figured it was worth being a little tired to ensure that we had a good experience.

It's a 30-minute walk alongside the track fence, starting in a parking lot, to get to Karussell. The wife set up shop there and I hiked back to the parking lot and got on the track. The photos of me actually on that turn, she took. The two other photos, in other places, were taken by ring photographers. There is one main website, just Google, and it is organized by calendar date. You pick the day you were there and start looking for your car.

We avoided any area with lots of tourists, busy times, and cities. There are a few websites and apps that will show you no-fly zones, as well. I've found, as a general rule, that being courteous avoids problems, and I don't fly over folks heads or otherwise make a nuisance of myself.
