I'm doing thing local to me. I want easy oversight to quality and to be able to talk things over face to face. Also titanium is not ideal for this. It's heavier than aluminum. And since the things I'm using aluminum for won't be load bearing, the strength isn't important. It's also a lot more expensive and doubt I can easily find pre-made parts of what I need of it.

He was out when I stopped in the shop today. I did spend some time thinking about the design and writing it down though. I have a lot of thoughts that I need to think about, research, and speak to the fabricator about still. I'm also considering making it out of all aluminum. Seems like cf would save at most 1lbs, and doubt it's worth the added complexities. Alum does seem more than strong enough to handle bracing, especially when designed how I have it.

So me having this made isn't gonna happen. Just to have one made for myself (all alum) is gonna cost like $1000 due to development time.

Are you aware of any strut bars designed for the M2 that also serve as a harness bar? Or perhaps purpose built harness bars that mount in that location? Seems like they have been made for other platforms, but I cant find any for the M2. Would be nice to be able to tuck it out of the way for the occasional track day.

Did you find out if this fitted in the end?

If so can you post some photos?

Thanks

In the new image, force won't even make it that far though, due to the flimsy 90 degree bracket for the lower mounting point. The bracket will bend before force make it that far. The bottom horizontal bar only exemplifies the problem, by giving the direction of force a further degree of stress, rather than if it was just the diagonal bar. Either way, the bottom bracket is weak.

Therefore, the top bar is the only piece of this brace that has any structural rigidity. Depending on how it's mounted, of course. But I'm ignoring how it's mounted and assuming it's mounted in the best way possible. So am only looking at the design of the brace itself.

I would not use this in my car. It's a waste of metal and weight.

Every time a car of mine gets an aftermarket rear strut brace, the rear becomes less forgiving and more prone to snap oversteer

Something to keep in mind as BMW engineered some flex in the M2 chassis to make the handling more manageable for the average driver.

I received and installed the upper ARC type 4 bar. I documented it here for any of those interested.
