Funny, they were a little rough on MB, but I kinda liked the various shades seen in the video.

Can anyone with the car take pics of these carbon defects? That’s mildly annoying for someone particular like myself

Same spec here, I agree on the roof not being perfect, but all those imperfections are unique ! No car is the same as the other !

Interesting it’s not bad so the imperfection is in the weave but not the clear coat itself?

Might be a discussion with BMWNA if it happens, but I'm really not one that would be too bothered by it.

I didn't even think about the 6th gear shift touching the I-drive controller.

Yeah, that could be a pain in the neck (wrist) . Hopefully not a huge issue since I won't be hitting 6th very often. Is there an idrive setting to disable wheel control?

I don’t think it be worth the headache- what’s the fix? Taking it to a dealer and have your new cs sitting for weeks nah!

I hate that it turned to a value review in the end. Enjoy the pros and cons. The subtleties like the 6mt interference with idrive controller It's good info.

Leave it to the end user to decide where the value rests. It's as if some reviews are focused on a particular income bracket. Nothing wrong with a segment that explains what to add to bring the comp up to similar performance.

Is a $300 bottle scotch $220 better than an $80 bottle? Maybe. Might depend,. Yet folks still spend those deltas and more on pricey hooch. Should they stop buying the more expensive stuff because the $80 bottle is almost as good, or there is $200 bottle that's 95% as good?

Quit trying to tell people what something is worth, when it's a relative quantity.

Good point but I think price to performance is widely used and it’s easy to make that comparison to the m2 comp for the dollars

That said, I think anyone that buys a CS or wants to isn’t seriously considering the m2c- you’re getting the cs because it’s special not because of how price to performance compares to the m2c

LOL. Some points to make here:

1. I think the blue looks great on this car. Especially with the blue-gold-ceramics combo. With the CS body work, it elevates the general vibe to being greater than the sum of its parts. This is a really unique and cool car out of the box and it shows!

2. Don’t worry about hitting the idrive when you’re shifting. I don’t know how you would do this unless you really did drive around with one hand on the shifter and your elbow flat on the surface. When it’s time to shift, I reach down and shift. If I’m shifting into 6th, I generally have my palm facing slightly outwards for an extra safety net. Not an issue. Even if it was, who cares it’s a cool manual drivers car.

3. Who goes out and tries to build 90% of x car for y budget rather than just buying x, especially when x is unique and special? It seems so time consuming and convoluted. That was hard to listen to.

I recently had good, long drives in a 991.2 GTS and a 718 Spyder. I was shocked to find that the CS had beefier steering with better feedback than the 991.2; it even had a more satisfying shift action than the 911’s 7 speed.

The 718 Spyder shifted, sounded, and steered better...however the opportunity window for fun was much smaller. The CS is legitimately more fun more of the time than a GT4/ Spyder. I may grab a Spyder next summer though.

I love getting into my M2 CS and driving the absolute hell out of it every day. It’s such a good daily driver. I’ll always add other stuff to the fleet, but I’m putting mega miles on the M2.

In what world am I going to go out and buy less of a car and then start adding all these ingredients lol. Plus, the adaptive suspension makes the drive very versatile on the street.

M2 CS is a unique car that has its own special vibe in BMW’s modern line up. Sure there are many other cars past and present, and I intend to experience many of them. However for a modern drivers car that is a DD with a full warranty, the CS is excellent.

I have already ordered a second set of gold rims so I can destroy them all winter long. Gotta enjoy cars like this as much as possible while they’re still around.

Damn right. Drive the hell out of it. I plan to do the same. This isn't going to be kept as a low mileage garage queen. I purposefully picked this car as my DD.

In all seriousness I would like to see the comparison of a CS and comp with the 763M cup-2 combo. I don't regret the CS purchase, but I've always said if I could have ordered a comp with adaptive suspension and merino leather I may have gone that route. Especially since I could have gone with orange and gold wheels

You did. It's called a BMW M2 CS.

For sure 3M can help you wrapping it (except for the CF roof).

What a weird review. Why would anyone that actually wants one of these spend the price difference in modding an M2C so it is the same price and so customised you'd never be able sell it? And after all that it's still not as good. Weird!

I had the same thought. I appreciated his self-awareness when he said: "I know I'm nit-picking a little bit." Um, ya think? I consider myself rather neurotic about my cars, but still couldn't find myself at all bothered by the issues he raised. As for the 6th gear issue, you'll only have that problem if you're driving the car incorrectly.

Agree with both of you, it was weird. I think his true personal opinion is hidden between the lines.
