You don't have to like every car but the real BS is discounting an entire brand, rather than looking at each car they make. Hell you like BMW but I'm sure they make a few cars you wouldn't be caught dead in. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't like a large majority of BMWs, I sure don't, but I still like a few of them.

You have that old school hillbilly "Ford vs Chevy" mentality, and it makes no sense. Unless of course you're a hillbilly. I went to highschool with a fair share of people like that.

Damn urban dictionary lol yes i skateboard and still do, been doing it for 28 years and used to be sponsored, still do it for fun on the weekends. And yes anyone that skates gets a bad rep even though the sport is getting more popular and mainstream these days.

Props for having a skateboard

BMW has been to the dealer once for an oil change. And to the track more times than I can count. Not one rattle or issue.
Sometimes I wonder if your experience is a bit of the "luck of the draw" - like was your car built on a Tuesday afternoon or a Friday morning before a holiday - I think there's more manufacturing differentiation than any of these brands would like us to believe.

With that being said, I am coming up on one year of ownership with my 981, and it has been in line with the 5 BMWs I had before that. Solid platform and no real issues to speak of.

BTW, I went 235 --> 981 and I am curious of how you like the chassis and suspension of the 235 after having a P car?

That kind of sucks to hear. I always aspired to own a 911, although I'm not sure the 991 is for me (too big and it's getting too close to being a GT car). Rattles don't bother me that much because it can usually be fixed, but things like AC going out, or even worse, engines blowing up is scary.

Can you be more specific with what was wrong with yours or your friends'? Sorry to go off topic.

Right around 28 years ago was the first time I picked up a board.. A ramp Rat ! lol. I bought many more , skated to class at college, Never got sponsored , but was close, had a couple of friends that did. I've been to watch events and contests At Ohara arena in Dayton. I haven't skated all afternoon in a while , but I do still tool around in the paddock..

I just remembered you were stoked about X games Austin.. Agree that it's nearly mainstream now.

If you are in the paddock of a race track and see another guy with a skateboard.. Probably me.

it aint all about numbers. ZL1 has 75 hp on the Z/28 but z/28 still beats the ZL1 by 4 seconds around the ring.

suspension, brakes, weight, and tires make a world of difference

M2 is the elite 2 series regardless of what numbers are printed on paper

Awesome you bring it to the track, smooth ground and fun to get around

I still prefer a board vs a golf cart in the paddock ..

Jeff Kendall?? Damn! I remember that guy on Santa Cruz. My first real board was a Vision Mark Gonzales. Then I saw Animal Chin video and started to ride Powell boards. Bones Brigade were the rock stars back then lol. Was cool when they came out with that autobiography recently, showed it at Alamo Drafthouse and some of the original members were there.

Probably, I ordered my 718 with a weird colour and weird interior

And now as I'm reading planet-9 forums, apparently I'm buying the death of Cayman and Boxster, maybe even porsche! maybe its the end of the world.
Can I just buy the porsche and stick with you guys? lol

Not everyone is predicting the death of the brand. but yes, there is a lot of vitriol towards the 718 on Planet 9. The P car folks seem even more attached to tradition than folks in BMW land.

I think folks should just enjoy what they have and move on. I know the 718 (and the M2) will likely be quicker than my 981 in many applications, but it doesn't bother me because I am really happy with the car. Someone is always going to be better, no matter how much you spend.

lol, the same thing was said when the original Bpxster and Cayman was introduced and when Porsche went from away from Air cooled.

People thought I was crazy to sell my 930, 964, 993 than got a 997, 987.2 and 981.

M2 and M240i are still two entirely different cars for now.
You knew this was going to happen and that they will introduce the next phase of M2.

The prophet has spoken. The M2 will in fact enter its next phase in the future. You should sell this info.

A lot of paper spec warriors in here. Go ahead and take your over square b58 with rear mounted timing chains. I'll look forward to hearing all about it as it nears 100k. I hope it's not the b6 s4 all over again, with all the anxiety...

The b58, so far Its an amazing engine. It makes more power with the same mods and takes to e85 better.

"M2 fanboy" isn't a proper response to owners that aren't upset about the b58. Please state your point and at least try to defend it. I know how much you must love commenting on YouTube but please be accountable "GTR iz betur". I'm sick of seeing misinformation plastered all over this forum.

I would MUCH rather have the best variant of an engine that has been tested for years. Sounds more special, and revs freely.

LOL, I'm reading all of the same threads. I have a 981 and love the NA engine, but my understanding is that the 718 has improved steering, offers Sport PASM, as well as other improvements. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out but the fact of the matter is all mfg are using turbo.

This is interesting. My guess is that M2 LCI will come with B58 and a power bump in 2018.
