Stupid question. Any reason I shouldn't get the CF rear diffuser done at port ahead of the MPE later when it's available?

I found the M Performance rear diffuser for $825. with no tax and free shipping. Cost of the port install would be my concern. I think it is easy enough to install at home.

Getting things done at Port gets the parts listed as OEM which can benefit you for insurance reasons should your car ever be totaled since most insurance companies limit aftermarket coverage to $1-5k depending on if you opt for that coverage. Most will not offer any coverage for aftermarket past a total of $5k. I'm not sure if dealer installed parts can get rolled into financing but port installed parts are so that could make it easier to buy them for some folks.

Also, port installers seem to have a better tendency to do a better job than dealerships...

Just under $80k all inclusive. Add an additional ~$20k for the CF body panels and you got yourself a six figure M2. Then there's the MPE and coilovers. Ballin' out yo.

The one on the F80 is really easy - I think it was like 6 or 8 screws...took them all of 5 minutes at the dealer, but they wanted to charge me an hour.

I would guess the M2/M2C are easy as well...

Did my 1M CF diffuser in about 45 minutes. I did opt for the CF diffuser port installed on the M2C. Still waiting to see the front splitter in person as Id like to fit the rear CF boot lip also.

That's why you buy them latter...

Then at least you'll have a nice set of winters.

But it does get rolled into your lease/finance through BMW FS, which is a plus.

This is a good point. If I were leasing then port installed options would be a much more attractive option. The thing is that you have to be ok with the M Cup2 tires that the wheels come with.

Not a fan of the fender design or the rear trunk lid.

Is there a price on the CF roof skin yet?

Yep, would be careful with the Cup 2s. On public roads they won't be properly warmed up. My rear end gave out (in my previous GT4) just by giving a little throttle from a normal stop light acceleration... in the middle of summer.

I must have hit some oil or coolant on the road, but still.

I think that's the CF trunk. If it is, at $4k that's ridiculous.
You're mistaken. The flow through spoiler is what I'd call the wing spoiler. Pic attached for reference. This is opposed to the carbon lip spoiler.

I'd bet the carbon trunk will be even more expensive.

+1
Although I think the hood could end up being the most expensive.

KA-POW - sales ninja on feeble mind.

Those prices are ridiculous. OK, so I'm being a bit polite. Just add your own expletive and delete the Carbon Fiber!

Reminds me of the excitement over plastic in the early 1900's. Oooo... the feeling of fake cow hide honey. Just wait for Carbon Fiber manufacturing to improve and, by that time, it will be like buying plastic today. Oooooo... how I just love that cheap looking CF look! Just give it ten years and we will be onto another technology - like rice patties or bamboo dust. Got to love how these sales guys sock-it-to-ya! KA-POW - sales ninja on feeble mind.

Sorry to be so pessimistic but those prices are ugly. Aeh, I guess will take a few anyway.

I have some experience on the road and on the track with the Cup2 tires that come with these wheels. They are great on track without a doubt, on the road they are compromised a bit because they are really designed to be a track tires thus until they are hot they don't provide much grip and in cold conditions they cannot be used at all, in fact they aren't even supposed to be stored below 40 degrees F. It is a tire I wouldn't use for daily driving. For weekend (under the right conditions) or track driving they are a good choice if you get them up to temp.
