Curbed one of my Ferric 437's....ARGHHHH!

So this happened earlier, going through a Subway (of all places). The best part? I don't even eat Subway! I was literally just sick over it, since a replacement is damn near impossible, and when it is it's unaffordable. I was able to bring it back to 90% though, all those years of modeling, working with small tools and painting coming in handy.

Visual

I know you are very 'attentive' to detail and probably did not sleep until you were able to address it . . . rest assured, you did a great job.

NOBODY would ever notice it unless you personally walked them up and showed them the flaw.

I realize, however, the bigger problem is that YOU know and my saying 'it is just a car' won't help any. . . so, for whatever it is worth again, you did a great job.

Thanks.

I drove straight home and started working on it, no way I could have let it sit for any time at all. It's ok for now, but I'll certainly be on the lookout for a nice used one, this just won't fly forever.

Ugh sorry to hear, been there done that

Not a bad DIY job at all, but personally speaking I would've gone with a professional wheel repair had I been in your shoes. I've curbed 2 of my wheels over the past 4 years and had them both paint matched and refinished to perfection. Anyone who says it isn't possible doesn't know where to go.

I'm about to put my Winter set on. Once that happens this one will be professionally fixed. However, it'll still be a spare, as I'll be on the look-out for a replacement.

I'm lucky the damage was just on the edge, and didn't get into the painted surface.

There is one for sale on ebay.ca (Canada), unfortunately it's the rear wheel.

It actually looks fantastic to the naked eye, the picture above is blown up very close, and the light is the worst, showing every detail. I'd say 100 people out of 100 would not notice anything from 5 feet away. But I'm the type of person, you know, it bugs the shit out of me...

Don't worry VisualEcho. Stone chips and rim rash: we hate it but sooner or later those things may happen. The car is used for its purpose: driving. Consider it a 'badge of honor' or 'patina'. The wheel is 'baptized' now. Been there, seen that, done that and got over it.

Of course no-one notices it (and if they do, they wouldn't bother anyway), but of course we know it's there and notice it. Brake dust mostly hides it fairly quickly (the fringe benefit of conventional brakes over M-CCB, haha).

Consider bringing your wheel to a competent wheel repair shop. The fix ain't expensive at all and they can get it back to 95%.

I'm so careful, always have been, but it has happened to me many times. It's going to bother me until I get it replaced, and I'll get over it, when the damaged wheel is on my wall as art haha.

Wow, that's amazing!

I tend to park really close to the curb so I don't get a door ding.
One night I completely forgot I was so close to one and curbed my front wheel when backing out.
Frustrating and embarrassing at the same time. Never had a curbed wheel on my past 7 cars...

That said could you fix my black 437M?
