M2C Buying Advice
I'm starting to see a lot of M2C's with 4-7k miles up for sale...what gives? and is it worth going this route rather than new?
thanks for the insights and perspectives! just want to make certain I'm not oblivious to something going on in the market |

I see the same thing. My guess is the ride because the car is so great in every other area. I would go new because the low mileage M2c's I am seeing are not trading at enough of a discount.

My guess - covid effects. And maybe a few looking to upgrade to the CS.
I've had mine for 18 months and 16.5k miles now and still loving it. |

I agree with this. Don’t buy used as they trade around $55k right now. Low inventory plus the low mileage cars result in this strange pricing.

I don’t think it’s a market thing. I think the novelty and fun factor has worn off. Buyers are now left with an obnoxiously loud cabin and a ride that is too stiff for normal use. They’ve moved to something more civilized.

If I were buying used I would be looking for a deal where the car has some upgrades I want like PPF, ceramic coating, tint, diffuser, spoiler, wheels that are not boat anchors etc to make a larger gap between the price of used vs new.

This goes back to a very uneducated consumer base... and applies to a ton of products. It's also why almost everyone is upside down on car loans.

Or just buy new and do it yourself. That’s a rare situation to find a seller who doesn’t want to recoup their costs and depreciation hit. It makes more sense to buy a new one. There’s not enough used inventory in the nation and the average selling price is way too close to msrp to buy used.

Yes, if buying used, make sure you get a significant discount versus new, and all these no-return add ons like PPF and CF bits are a big bonus. However, note that a new one can be had for a 10% discount if you try hard enough, so you really have to look at your financial situation to see if the few extra thousand are worth saving or not. Really comes down to the deals you can negotiate for the used and a new car.

Yeah spot on. I dont have a comp but all the reviews say its stiffer than the OG. IMO that makes it to stiff as a daily. Smokingtire had a review on a modified one where the first mod was softening up the suspension. I wonder to what degree the CS fixes the issue with its adaptive system

I have obviously not driven an M2 CS but I HAVE driven an M3 CS and the ride is fantastic. Easy daily. My 2016 M3 w/ passive suspension rides like a covered wagon by comparison. BTW, I have watched 3 separate reviews commenting on how compliant the M2 CS suspension is. |

Stiff suspension is a personal preference so it may be great for you. For me, my stock OG rides too stiff at low speed. High speed is perfect. |
