I have no experience with any of the DTC pads. But I have read lots of positive reviews on them

Finally got the M2 back out on track for a bit a couple of weeks ago. Car was running like a banshee before we loaded it up and headed towards the track. Of course on track our charge pipe started leaking pretty soon into the first session so didn't have any power - but still had a blast. Such a fun car to drive. And as a bonus even remembered how to heel/toe rev match! Still waiting on the rest of my goodies from IND to get here so we can start the next phase of the build.

Ha yeah well whatever you call it - this is the make pretty part

Half cage & rear seat delete, new hood, carbon "aero" bits, likely wrap it. Just mainly dress it up a bit

yeah, sounds awesome. Are you using the OEM dash or thinking AIM dash?

Just keeping the oem dash. The aim dash is pretty awesome - really like in my M3 - but do not think I would go that far with the M2 unless it were to go full track no street.

The thing about the aim dash - in particular the MXG 1.2 7" screen which is what I prefer - to me is in how you mount it. We tried setting it up in my M3 on the steering column in front of the existing dash. Had to angle the top towards the rear to be able to be able to view as much of the screen as possible between the top of the steering wheel & center - but still couldn't see part of it including the shift lights. So for me going to have to either mount it on the center console or go with a open car style half steering wheel. With the M2 I would imagine this would be the same situation for me - but on it I don't really want to tear up the center dash, block vents, etc. Smaller dash might work out but just going to stick with the solo for now.

If I take out my passenger seat for track days, will I have any issues with errors, codes, or the car freaking out in an undesirable way?

Yes, you will have lights on the dash for airbags.

Other than the presence of the lights, will that cause any issues?

Also - will they be OK when I put it back in or will I have to have them cleared?

The airbag lights will have to be cleared with a scanner that is compatible with srs/airbag diagnosis. $$

Thanks. I’m going to leave it in for this weekend (I’m not making any extra power either because a certain vendor dropped the ball on parts and will be running basically unopposed in my class) and talk to my shop to make sure they can clear the codes for me

Yup, Megator and I did today. My first time there so more fam for me than anything. Great track, especially since they've just refinished it for F1.

One of the first "post COVID" TDs here so it was bloody crowded.

Awesome! How do you think it compares to some of other tracks you have been on? Running it a bit on the sims it really looked like a track that I would enjoy.

I'm new to doing TDs in cars so definitely a novice. I've driven Nurburgring and on motorcycle Willow Springs and streets of willow. This was definitely best surfaced track I've been on.

It was technical with a lot of elevation change in tight turns but a good straight where you can get up to 220 Km/h plus. In an M2 you're doing damn good to run anything under 2:00. Seems the M240i race cars are running around 1:50 according to Megator. He ran a 2:01 yesterday (DCT) and I ran a 2:09 (manual) and felt like I had plenty more to give. Shit ton of people on the track and red flags so it was good fam for me and just keeping it wheels down.

Here's a crash from the morning session (m240i race hitting z3 coupe). A Cayman also had a wheel fall off and trashed his car

Damn that sucked! Track day people, track day!

I like the technical stuff & elevation changes. Might have a chance to drive it this fall - definitely looks fun!

Let me know if you are in the area and what day/org you have planned. There is a group of us that go on Sunday drives around Holland, Germany and Will be doing TDs all year (Zandvoort is our local track but we're doing Assen and likely Spa and Zolder as well).
