M2CS safe tuning?

Are any of you doing a tune on the car?

I have a BM3 on my M2C, and I love it, however, it appears that this red flags the car (even if you remove the tune when you go in for service) and if anything happens to the engine the engine warranty is voided.

My local dealer tells me that if i get a tune from a local tuner (and they have a tuning rep right at the dealer), if anything happens I'll be covered. Is there any truth to this?

Is JB4 a safer option? Normally I'm not a fan of piggybacks, but i don't want to lose the warranty.

Is there an option to buy a different ECU, swap it in, and if anything happens to swap in the stock one?

Might install an Akrapovic just to improve sound, otherwise i'm only doing some exterior cosmetic changes. No tunes to keep the original feel of a car that has only 397 6-spd examples in the US.

There is no warranty safe option. If you tune they will know for warranty purposes.

With the limited production of this car, and the fact that the car gets 'normal' S55 output anyways - I'm not sure it would be wise modifying much when it comes to the engine. It's just not worth it.

At most i'd maybe upgrade the intercooler & associated radiator in a way that could be reverted back to stock if needed. This way you are at least letting the car make more power under heatsoaked conditions. Although I think BMW already did a good job with this.

JB4 is catchable now. My old 320i was flagged and it only had a JB4.

what about doing a mid pipe of something? My m2c feels perfect with a BM3 GTS tune, so i'd love to have the same power level. Certainly don't want to void the warranty.

Don't think M2CS ecu will be tunable due to new Bosch software.

I wouldn’t tune this car. Tune the OG and M2C Sure fine and I did. Because I knew it wasn’t a keeper.

Keep forgetting a lot of you guys over seas got your cars earlier. I suspect none or very few of the NA market will be tunable.

How did you "tune" away the opf sensors? Using jb4 or opf delete modules? Or a real flash? Thanks a lot

Hi , thru a real flash directly from the ECU . Be sure that your ECU is unlocked . You have to remove the water cooler first , but it isnt a big deal.

Ahh ok, thank you! So it's not possible to disable the sensors via the jb4?

It may be possible as well , but i recommend to ask a specialist first.

Personally, I'd leave the car alone, and instead invest the money in becoming a better driver. Warranty stays intact, unmolested status stays intact, and I'd probably be faster as a better driver than by merely applying more power with the same amateur behind the wheel.
