Haven't watched the video yet but all things being equal I would buy the 1M, drive it sparingly and have another car (GTI) as a daily. I have an M2c and enjoy it but the 1M was/is instant classic and more rare. Hydraulic steering also...miss it

M2C as a daily, 1M as a weekend car since it's basically a classic that is going to hold it's value if not appreciate over time.

The M2C is so coveted because it's the closest modern BMW resembling anything in that E-chassis era, but the 1M is the OG. Classic BMW hydraulic steering is enough to make it my preference.

Cool video but as far as I'm concern the only similarities between the M2C and 1M is they are both small, entry-level BMW M cars and they both could be had with a manual transmission - totally different machines, IMHO.

As my daily and my only street legal vehicle, I think the M2c is the better choice, but the 1m would make a better collector vehicle and project car.

I had a 1M, but sold it not long after taking delivery of my M2C. I regret selling it.

I almost bought a 1M years ago. About to pull the trigger and asked my wife what she thought of it. She wasn’t too keen and wanted a bigger car so I passed. Arg! I wish I could go back in time. I’d def get the 1M solely bc of the lack of depreciation and future collectability.

Everyone answering this saying 1M will always mention it holding value vs it actually being the better car. If you wanted the objectively better car, it's the M2C. Subjectively, based on looks (i love the 1M arches) and feel, the 1M does probably win out.

Kind of funny but I did exactly that. GTi for the daily and the 1M for the fun weekends

yeah... I mean its all subjective, right? but you have to consider the value since one of these cars will go up and the other will not. resale is also something I think many enthusiast do think about if you flip cars often. but again, depends on who you are and what you value.

M2c any day (but I'm obviously biased). M1 value goes up - but only if you don't really drive it. Cars generally suck as an investment, even Unicorns like the 1M.

I bought the m2c to drive. If I wanted to make investments a car would be the last choice. With that being said m2c all the way for me. IMO looks better, feels more premium and performs better. I tried out the 1m and it really wasn't for me, a bit more raw than I wanted, I'm no pro driver lol

i owned a 135is. i would consider them pretty close to the 1M as far as being rare (only 586 coupes were produced). i had M3 control arms, KW V3s, Berk exhaust, and a Dinan Stage 2 tune. it was a very fun car but it felt like it was missing something even after all of the additions

i would still choose the M2C over it. overall, the M2C is better packaged. it is not as rare but for a driver's car, it checks lots of boxes.

Two completely different animals. The M2C has the minimal amount of luxury and tech I require so just in creature comfort‘s alone the M2C would get my money again.

Sure... I love my M2C. but I love that the 1M has gone up in value since I bought it. I have had multiple people try and buy it from me over the years. they always offer at least $60k and the highest offer was $71k (back in 2018). it was tempting... but I kept the ol gal.
my point is, its like I got a free car or an appreciating asset. where the sad part about the M2 is that its already worth less than I bought it for even though it only has like 3k miles and its in perfect condition. just the way values work. but nevertheless I love both cars... and I do prefer the M2 as a daily. the 1M feels more special in the dynamics department but its also something I drive less frequently.

I think if BMW only produced 6000 M2s and then discontinued the model, then our M2s would surely appreciate. They've probably sold 25k+ M2s? With the G87 coming...

Keep that 1M forever, for the great car that it is and the value!
