I'm still sad to have passed on my allocation. The M2CS looks to be exactly what I had hoped; maybe I'll pick one up used in a few years when my GT4 is paid off.

Congrats to those that could swing this awesome package..
That was the exact reason why I did the F87 CS over the G82 6MT. The M4 I spec'ed came to $91k and I just wasn't in love with it.

Will be interesting to see if that happens, currently 90 up on autotrader. The discounted one I saw locally has been sitting for months. I get the sense that BMW overestimated what people were willing to pay.

Wagyu is overrated, just like the CS. Just get "choice" cut steak and an M2C, and save the extra money.
By that recommendation, I'd end up with a M2C and 600 Wagyu steaks!? hmmmm, 600 steaks (drools like Homer Simpson)

You didn't catch the sarcasm. I figured the fact that i had a CS would have given it away.
I did catch it and in return, failed with my come-back

Will try better next time

When you pick up your car in Melbourne make a booking here.

https://www.vlados.com.au

Plenty of good steak places in Melbourne and Sydney. Vlados is exceptional.

I was in the same boat. Cross shopping with a Porsche or G80 M3, the F87 CS seemed a lot more special and one for the ages.

That is the best advice I've received all year my friend.

I'll be there next Monday for sure.

Wow, the San Marino blue M2C in one of these videos is gorgeous! It’s a pity that BMW did not propose this colour for the M2, at least for the CS.
My ‘perfect’ M2 would be a CS in SMB, lowered of 1 or 2 cm, and with the sound of the OG 😃

That's a colour that suits a larger car and a sure fire way to ruin your handling. OG sound is pretty special though.

If you're planning to mod an M2 C to be like a CS, it's not a better value.

An M2 C is $60k, but if you mod the power, brakes, wheels, add a carbon fiber hood, roof, trim, interior bits, steering wheel, seats, it may only cost you $15k after installation. So now your M2 C is like a M2 CS but with a total cost of $75k. Your freshly modded M2 C is now worth $50k because mods reduce your car's value.
Net: $-25k

An M2 CS is $85k. It comes with all of that from the factory. Your total cost is $85k. It's worth $80k because 1 owner depreciation is a thing.
Net: $-5k

I would say that it depends on how the mods were done on if you would lose that much value. It would not be smart to mod an M2C to be like a CS though because the mods would at least be a total loss of value (they'll be worth very little to nothing on the secondary market if you part out your car).

The posts saying stuff like that are just M2C owners who recently bought rather than waiting for the CS, watched it win multiple car of the year awards, and now are trying to convince themselves that they made the better buying decision. It sounds alot like the Chris Harris article in Top Gear Mag where he spends the entire time trying to make the CS sound worse than the M2C since he bought one.

It's where I came from the whole time the M2C was out. I essentially wanted the full M Performance kit, all of that stuff including suspension. That was the perfect M2 in my mind. But the dealer installed carbon roof worried me and I knew the value of the completed car, even with OEM M Performance mods rather than after market ones, would not be better for it. If a life emergency came up and I needed to sell the car, I would be out all of that mod investment, nearly $25k after installation.

Then the M2 CS came along with all of that and more from the factory. I think it's $5k more than it should be, but I'm not going to let that stop me.

This is the worst possible advice I’ve ever seen here. In other words, buy the car for the next owner while the meat of your life flashes by.

Thanks but no thanks.

My M3 does groceries, weekend escapes, home improvement stores, track events, and OMG snow when I can find it. It has a few scratches and dings, and I love it to bits.

I hope new M2CS owners follow in this ownership model, it is quite an experience.

Incidentally you will do a lot better in the stock market over 20 years if you invest the money.

No one on this board will be seeing much depreciation if you keep the car for 5 years regardless how much you drive it, with almost everyone getting full PPF plus i'm sure doing proper break in, etc. Just drive the car.

The bad examples will be from people not in this forum.

I suspect most M2CS owners already know how to invest which is why they're able to get one

Of course.

The thing that strikes me the most about this argument, is that when I look for one of the "modern classics" to buy used, I'm always looking for a well used single-owner car that has the maintenance history. Its almost better if the car has been driven regularly then left to sit in plastic for 20 years. I think if you drive your car, take care of it, keep your documentation and actually use it for the next 5-8 years, you will be pleasantly surprised by the price you get for it on the used market. Its not going to be 85k, but i'd expect you won't see less than 60-70k. M2Cs and OG M2s will see massive deprecation because of the M2 CS, which will be the car from this gen most buyers will look for on the secondary market.

If you are trying to protect your cars above all else to preserve value, you are wasting your money and you are not beating the stock market ever.

I'm inclined to think I'm investing in "fun" with this car.

That's my investment tactic with the M2CS
