Let's see your battle scars.

The PPF thread talked about character. Let's see your battle scars and character.

This gouge is from a decal that flew off a rally car and planted itself in my bumper.

This is some of the sandblasting.

None of it is that bad from a few steps away.

My last car had too much character.

I PPF'ed my M2C to be void of any character.

I don't have a picture, but we all know what a paint chip looks like. When I was getting the PPF installed, they asked if I wanted to do the roof. I passed thinking that'll never happen and never happened on any of my previous cars. I think it was around a week later a rock hit the front of the roof putting a small paint chip on the top.

On the rear quarter panels I replaced those with larger pieces. Glad I did, even now they are pretty beat up. I figure I'll need to replace those with new pieces every few years.

Looks fine. I don't think flying stickers cause much damage though.

It was a magnetic job and that's what it did. Just a scrape.

Damn! That sucks. I hit a cone 🤷*♂️and it scuffed the side a little but nothing permanent. I'm glad I put a clear wrap on the whole front of the car haha.

This is like sharing photos of wear/age on a vintage guitar! I support this thread. Once I clean the bugs off of mine I'll share some.

They can be. Sometimes they're nice and colourful. Luckily no love bugs up here. These ones wash off! I got no love for love bugs.

I find this thread strangely alluring...

I'll probably have more worthy scars when I track it next year.

This happened about a month into my ownership and just a week after I had the larger pieces of PPF installed on my rear fenders. I was parked at a restaurant one evening and assume it happened from someone slamming their door as hard as possible into my car. Thankfully the film took the brunt of the force, no paint damage but I had to have a pdr guy fix a tiny dent. You'd never know it happened but it still pisses me off.

Damn, that looks intentional. I hope whomever did it got syphilis and their dick fell off.

I had some coneage after the last autocross from tagging a cone in a slalom with the rear flare right in the middle of the factory PPF. In fact, the cone scar started on the paint in front of the PPF and ended about 3" onto it.

The body of the car in front of the PPF came clean super easily. In fact with a sealant or ceramic coating, I can usually just gently rub the cone rubber off the paint with nothing left behind. In this case, it came right off with no scratch or evidence left behind.

The PPF scar was another story. Due to the speed of impact and I suppose the fact that the cone is rubber, I assume there was local molecular bonding between the cone rubber and PPF material (i.e. that shearing rub creates locally very high temperature in the contact zone). It took me the better part of an hour using progressively more aggressive polish to almost remedy the PPF scar. I got to the point where it was 'good enough' and quit.

Funny how the same thing can be alluring to some and make others sick to their stomach. I am strongly in the later camp.

Hit a mysterious piece of signage (with light) in the middle of a B road on a Saturday morning. No construction anywhere to be seen. Paying out of pocket to keep it off the Carfax, although I'm documenting everything in detail for the lucky next owner(s) for full transparency.

I get the car back today with a new bumper and front & rear reflectors deleted! Then off to the detailer for bumper clear film and ceramic coating.
