I am yet to meet a person older than 35 driving M2 in person All the thumbs up I get are from twenty something males. Don't get me wrong i love my OG owning it for 4 years now. Tracking the hell out of it and with 42k on ODO. But it gets on my mind if I should get more grown up car.. But what is that? Even though I can easily afford more expensive car, i still think that sitting in super sport (mclaren) it would make me look too mid life crisis. So I am down to 2 options now 911 or MB GTC. But then we start loosing practicality... As you said its just 1st world problem and probably silly |

I am in my 70s. I had an M235i before I traded up to my M2. You are never too old to enjoy a great car. And I still do track days.

Over 40 and wouldn't drive anything but an M2 right now.
Never too old to have fun. If others judge us for it, so be it!

I'm 54 and I *love* my M2C. I could have gone either way between the M4 and it, but honestly, the M2C just had more emotional appeal to me.
Additionally, the M4 cost a fair bit more, and it would have worked out that I could have a M2C modified *exactly* how I wanted or a bone-stock M4 for still less money. I really don't need a larger trunk or back seat and the fact that the M2C was virtually identical dimensionally to my old e46 M3 made the decision sort of a no-brainer (The M4 is BIG in comparison). You can spec a lot more options on the M4 if you order the car, but honestly, I've got no complaints on what came on the M2C, and there's not much I would have changed if I'd gotten the M4 instead. Basically, it boils down to "Which one do you like better?" Drive both and make your decision. Last edited by flybigjet; 08-17-2020 at 10:37 AM.. |

In all honesty, if it's going to be your 2nd or 3rd car, then perhaps you should look into a Boxster, Cayman, Corvette, etc. as well. I would not worry about the image of an M2 though. It's no Evo or Civic Type R or anything. Not that people of any age can't enjoy those cars, but I mean to point out that I don't think the M2 has a stereotype at all. |

Too old? Do yourself a favor and slip on that Beastie Boys T-shirt, lace up those Air Jordan’s, clip on that Motorola pager and jump into that M2c and drive!

I'm not a showy person, so buying the biggest M out there was not a motivator for me, and I couldn't care what people think. I also have multiple cars at home so making a small coupe decision was easy. There are people on this board who will be surprised that 40, 50, 60 70 somethings will buy this car, but in my experience I've seen a dude in his 60s, a dude in his 70s driving this thing, so there really is no right age. Do what you want, and drive what you want. Having owned the M2 for 8 months now, I can only say I love this car and very glad I bought it. |

I think i'm on the younger group of people with an M2 here at 35, but honestly age shouldnt matter if you love cars. If you are going to assign age to anything i actually see more 20-somethings in M3 and M4's than M2s in my area. But even then they are all just cars. Buy what you enjoy if you can afford it.
You already have your family boring car in the Tesla, nows the time to buy something for yourself. |

A little history:
My 25 year old self couldn't afford a Porsche or BMW. Plus the 944 had an awkward driving position to me. A Dodge Daytona Turbo fit the bill. At 30 I really liked the 325i but went all out for a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, an affordable super car. At 40 was my first BMW, a 540i. I felt I had outgrown the M3. My midlife crisis car was then an E39 M5. At 50 I went for the Z4 roadster experience. At 60 now, I went for the M2C to enjoy track days, etc. So its kind of a make-up car for missing the earlier M3 experience.

Get the car that you like and enjoy. I’m 31 and I am excited for this to be my fun/dad car for the next 10 years. It also balances-out the slow-as-hell Subaru Outback that my company has me in. Remember, this is not a cheap vehicle that you’re looking at, and I would bet that most buyers are in your general age bracket. Most of the drivers I’ve seen in this model are “comfortably middle-aged.” |

58 here with a mind of a 16 year old.
The stable : 2000 Honda S2000 2004 325i (outgoing) 2017 340 IX MPPSK, Dinan springs and sways 2019 M2C They are all tracked! Whenever I hear anybody say that's not an old man's car I bring them for a quick spin in the S2000, when they start getting queasy then tell them it's only going to get worse in the other cars Ride my road and mountain bikes the same way!

Just out of the dealership and spoke with another M2C owner, would assume in his mid 70's. So yes age has nothing to do with the love of cars.

Cars like this are toys, and there is no age limit on toys. Except for guns maybe. But nevertheless, can’t put an age limit on fun.

Got mine at 33 years old, 34 now I feel it's more car than most have at my age have through actual hard work and not inheritence.
Get what you want screw what people expect or think we are here once and the illusion of stability/things going on forever as they are is just that, an illusion. YOLO |

A friend of mine, who is 52 years old, has just bought an M2C.
I am 43 and also own m2c and cant see a single reason why I would not be willing to own this car if I were 10 years older. And the funny thing is I also own 911 gt3 and still enjoy the m2c every time I drive it. |

61 here...been driving, track driving, instructing, time trials, autocrossing BMWs since the mid-1970s and still do. The M2C is my wife's car, more or less (since we both use all our cars whenever we want), but one of the main reasons we wanted it is the entirety of the whole package performance-wise, and in particular the size...just a tad smaller than an E46 M3. Thankfully BMW still offers it with a 6MT.
With the next M3 exceeding the size of our long-owned and now sold E39 M5, I don't see ever replacing our E90 M3. These two together meet all our needs for fun and engaging 6MT cars to own (well, along with a beater E91 for "those" chores like dump hauls, mulch pickup, etc). Heck, I'm in a slow process of restoring my 1975 CanAm 125 motocross bike I bought new and still have...rode it not long ago too. All the teenage brain programming of racing it is still there, but the muscle response is likely a bit delayed these days.

37 here. But personally I love it when older people, men or women, drive the same car. I think it speaks a bit to their personality as we all know this car isn't for everyone.
It's kind of like the cool kids club, if you're in, you're in. And those that know, know. |
