M2 CS delivery - USA (HS - 6MT - 2NH - GLD 763M - Cup2) - PDC Delivery Texas

So, I took delivery of my HS M2CS on Friday at the PDC in South Carolina and drove her home – Whoop

Firstly, a huge thanks to Rallye BMW and George Javier (slalomfever) for all his assistance – it could not have gone smother!! If you live in the NYC area, he is a MUST!! BTW, he was also instrumental in getting my M4 GTS back in 2015 – huge M fan and great guy

Second, thanks to all the PDC folks as this was my third PDC delivery and as always, they happen without a hitch. Shout out to Josh for the delivery, to Laura for the driving and to Matt M!! Glad to know such enthusiasts as you guys. Can’t wait to drive with Laura again at COTA in the WRL!!

Now, onto the important stuff! What a car, absolutely LOVE it. So chuffed to be back in a manual and am in love with the color. I was nervous about the gold 763M’s but they turned out to look amazing.

My plan was to drive home via The Tail of the Dragon, but weather forced me to be cautious, so I just headed straight to Nashville – 360 miles day one. Day two was straight to Dallas. I chose to hit the hay early and left around 3am only to have the first two hours in snow showers on I40 in 31 degree’s on Sport Cup 2’s – can you say pucker factor!! Needless to say, she handled it well.

So, I thought I would list my pro’s, con’s and meh’s from two and half days:

Pros:
• The LOOK – amazing stance and presence
• Color – Hockenheim changes color depending on the light
• The gold wheels – lol
• Plenty of leg room – I am 6’5”
• Seats very comfortable
• Can get a sense of the performance
• Good sized trunk
• The size of the front brakes and calipers – love the Red
• The Steering Wheel
• The Hood
• The Gurney flap
• Front Splitter

Con’s:
• Fuel range – could barely go 270 miles or three hours
• When in 6th gear and resting my hand on the gear shift, my right wrist will rest on the iDrive and cause it to change whatever is displayed
• Super gulp drinks in the cup holder impede with the gear shifter – this will only be an issue on road trips, not daily driving
• Display info on the dash – very limited compared to my M5’s and M4’s – but I understand it’s a 2 series in the hierarchy – wish the digital speed as always displayed
• Brake dust is going to be an issue – but that the same with all steel M’s
• Would like more leg support on the seats – at my height it would help
• On HS, the M2 CS badging needs to be black – the chrome gets kinda lost
• Needs the rear CF winglet’s – not sure why those are not standard

Meh’s
• Gearing – on road trip’s at speeds above 85, a 7th gear or overdrive would help with mpg! LOL!! RPM is above 3k – would love to know what DCT RPM’s at that speed are?
• Dash – after numerous M’s with a leather dash, just gotta get used to this look. Kinda like my E90 M3.
• No alcantara headliner – I think all M cars should have it.
• Will add spacers – not sure what size
• 27 miles on the odometer, was higher than I expected

Anyway, I will post my thoughts after the break-in service tomorrow.

p.s. - everyone mentioned how lucky I was to get one as it has the potential to be a very special BMW!

p.s.s. - the M4/M3 CF buckets seats are gonna be a hit with guys and their gals not so much. As comfortable as my GT3 buckets and more adjustable.

CoNgrats on the car and the road trip. You bring up a good point. Why do cars have different miles at delivery? Mine had 13 miles once it arrived to the dealer and it was delivered to me with 17 miles. I guess the dealership has to test before selling? And who drove the first 13 miles? BMW and the transport people?

Nice write up. Looks great. I agree the HS changes color. My M2C is HS and it looks silver, grey, and light blue at times. I'm in Southlake and have Misano blue CS. Let's meet up sometime. Congrats!

Maybe also experiment with this suggestion here (seat tilt).

See 09:50-12:17 in this M2 CS video.

Suggestion: in iDrive settings you can deactivate (untick) the iDrive touchpad.

Can also code in the digital speed if not one of the selections. I have the digital speedo on mine. Nice to be able to glance at speed quickly if needed.

Congrats on the car, I've always understood that resting your hand on the shifter long term isn't great for the synchros. Some old school cars used to print this in the owner's manual.

Congrats and thanks for taking the time to add your thoughts.

Love the car and combo, I’m biased of course, mine is a twin with the steering wheel on the correct side however.

Your selection is impeccable and compared to the yellow thing......, well, some things are better unsaid

For my liking and many others, including Markus Flasch (M-Division CEO), M2CS is on top of the ladder when it comes to the F8x hierarchy

Congratulations, many years of safe and happy driving

Press B/C on control stalk to cycle through options. Mine is always on temperature, but you can switch to digital speed display if you like it.

And in iDrive you can deselect (untick) most so that you don't need to cycle through info you're not interested in.

I would've been happy to get 270 miles. I barely got 200 before I was filling up.

Tough to say - my 20' M2C euro delivery had 3 kilometers on it when I first sat in it at the Welt, had 787 (mi) when I dropped off at the Munich airport drop off, and had 800 mi when I picked it up at my dealer in St. Louis. I also instructed my dealer to alert me the second it appeared on a truck and to not drive it outside of their dealership (or wash it).
