Dashboard Creaking
I seem to have some creaking noise coming from the dash. I'm not sure where it's coming from exactly, but seems to be around the center speaker area. Contemplating pulling the speaker grill off to inspect.
Anyone else?

this time of year with "cooler" temps usually brings out the interior noises which disappear when it gets warmer. not sure what temps you are getting in your location but that has been my experiences with other cars. we have about the same miles but i have not driven my car recently to notice.

Yeah it's been this way for a while now. Body flex from going in and out of driveways definitely creates the noise. Wondering if it's in the dash area or perhaps under the hood.

I've noted some noise that isn't easy to locate as the door seals get dirty. Nowhere near as extreme as my 340i's dirty seals problem, but don't leave them out when cleaning your car.

I know it's not the door seals. I'll try making a video.

Pop the center speaker cover off and check the screws? Mine was missing a screw and the speaker was wiggly. I didn't replace it since disconnecting the center speaker was always planned. I still don't know where that screw is...could be in Germany or somewhere in my dash.

This is a long shot, but check the strut brace and your strut mounts. The strut brace ties back to the firewall through some engine shrouding and can transmit noise to the center of the dash. I had it happen on an E90. I thought the steering wheel was squeaking but it turned out to be bad strut mounts. It took 3 months and a better mechanic than me to figure it out. The shape of the strut brace can act like a horn and amplify certain sounds making a relatively quiet creak in the suspension much more noticeable in the cab. If you know how to repeat the noise have someone else drive the car while you listen with a stethoscope.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply the problem was with the brace itself. Only that the brace might be transmitting the noise from another suspension component into the dash.

Unfortunately still dealing with this. Wondering if it's something to do with the plastic venting between the dash and windshield.

I also have a slight creaking noise, appearing to come from center of dash behind center speaker area. Mentioned it to the dealer while the car was in for an oil change. They kept it for four days, drove it 30 miles over 4 attempts to isolate the noise. On each test drive, they removed a dash/console section, and eventually moved to the engine compartment. They finally told me that with the carbon brace and aluminum brace under the hood removed, the noise went away. With those back on, the noise returned. Of course, they noted that I have camber plates and chucked it to that as passing vibrations through to the cabin.

Rattles and creeks are notoriously hard to find without ripping up everything. And usually the solution is sticking some felt tape somewhere. Hope they are able to find something for you.

Additionally, I have a DSP installed and the remaining speakers timed to my seat so that the off-center nature of sitting in the car is dealt with. Even without messing around further, just disconnecting the center channel lets the proper Left/Right speakers do their job without interference. In my previous car ('16 340) I had a lot of additional hardware installed, with a better center, all professionally tuned for a proper two-seat surround experience that actually worked, but my M2C isn't set up this way. |

Yes, they are. I was able to rectify a noise I found under the glove compartment. Persistence. 😁
