I might get the 1st M2CS available in our area. I will let you know when I get more official details

To my ears, the M3CS (and I am assuming M4CS as well) exhaust is the best sounding iteration of the S55.

It even sounds better than the MPE on certain videos...I'm not sure what the take rate has been for the MPE for those that have the M3/4CS...would be interesting to hear feedback on the differences.

I second that, that titanium piping makes the CS sound sonorous. Best attempt yet for a S55 iteration.

Hopefully, BMW doesn't cheap out and use a less exotic material for the M2 CS' exhaust...

Forward to 3:35 for a sample sound:

It's significantly better with the MPE. I had the stock exhaust for 2 months before getting the MPE.

Screw those 1M type buyers. I hope they get to pay 20K markup on the cars when they come out.

In Europe MPE was not officially offered for the CS. People bought it anyway. I preferred to stay stock. The standard exhaust sound good and loud enough for me.

MPE is too loud sometimes and loud/flashy cars got a bad reputation here, due to certain individuals. Attracts unwanted attention.

Better in which way? Louder? Yes. An unpleasant metallic noise, very close to no name no cat exhausts.

There is no "titanium piping" on a stock M3/4cs. IMO, the main difference in sound emanates from the unique CS engine tune.

I have an MPE on my CS, which is titanium, and it sounds significantly better than stock.

Really, I heard differently or maybe I'm mixing it up with the GTS.

What makes it sound different from the M4 CP then, the tune?

This car will have only two things I want from it! The software for the MDM and the software for the steering... Other than that I am not fussed. My set up will be lighter, better set up and faster than the CS. Maybe I should order a CSL badge for mine.

This thing must be costing 20K more than a decently packed M2C. Not sure it is worth that money in the market second hand with 911's, GT4's and M4 CS's being dumped on the market at prices lower than this M2 CS. Oh and don't forget that horrible Misano Blue. It should have had the new blue from the 8-Series or something else, not this... Also another blue for a CS? Is that a trend? Where are the reds and yellows?

2200 is a nice number, but too many really to be picked quickly. Knowing how hard it is to get dealers to sell M4 CS's I wonder how they will manage to sell these at a price tag close to 90-95K EUR or 75K GBP.

MR
You’ve ordered $7k worth of upgrades for your car already, and are considering another $10k or more worth of carbon goodies. How is your car not going to cost $20k over a stock M2C in the end?? And with a much lousier resale value.

On the CS it sounds slightly deeper and less raspy than it did on my non-competition M3. That brings up another question though: will the M2 CS include the CS engine tune to push torque up to 443 ft-lb?

Not to mention that you can't necessarily just have a carbon fiber roof installed.

With the valves closed, the MPE offers a much deeper purr than the stock exhaust without being any louder. I find it very enjoyable when just cruising around.

With the valves open at low RPM, it has a deep menacing growl typical of BMW inline-6 engines which turns into a race car like howl at higher RPM. It is indeed quite louder than stock with the valves open. In Sport+, the burbles on overrun sound like riffle shots that can startle bystanders, which is sometimes funny but also a bit obnoxious.

Interestingly, the MPE on my M4cs sound quite different than it did on my 2015 M4. The exhaust sound is much cleaner and deeper, with less rasp overall and less farting on upshifts and liftoff.

The GTS comes stock with the MPE which has a titanium rear section while the CS comes with the stainless steel Sport exhaust from the competition package. What the GTS and CS both have as unique elements are welded on single walled tips on the rear section.

And yes, I believe a key differentiator for the CS sound comes from the engine tune.

I highly doubt this will be the case. IMO, the M2cs will have the M3/4 competition pack tune.

If you truly think that the M2CS is ONLY going to upgrade these 3 things then I don't know what else to tell you...

The difference of interior and above all driving experience changed considerably from M3/M4 Comp to the CS version.

Honestly, they'd be crazy if they didn't release a manual... the M2 has a 50% MT take rate in the US.

Serious question, have you even ever driven a M240i?

It's a fantastic car, power is up there with the M2C

Handling, Suspension, LSD on M2C is what differentiates it the most from M240i. The M-Perf stuff ain't half as good as the M2's, but it's still a big upgrade.

I'd tentatively consider a fully M-Perf specc'd M240i with adaptive suspensions and AWD over a 6MT M2. It's a real hidden gem!
