Doing the math on it:

New one came out to about $71,000 out the door. Used one came in at around $70,000.

Used market is indeed dumb at the moment.
It'll equalize at some point, just gotta stay patient. I'm getting ready to sell my Toyota Tundra to a dealership for more than I paid for it 1.5 years ago with 14k more miles.

This is interesting. By chance do you have any of this research? The nerd in me is curious. Intuitively it makes sense that consumers will bulk at higher than MSRP prices on new vehicles, but figured there’s a selfish bias leading that thinking.

Here's the latest study I came across. But, if you google it, you'll find lots and lots of scholarly articles on the subject. Pretty fascinating stuff, and it makes sense if you take into account that sellers are looking to maximize NPV of all future earnings. If gouging now increases your earnings today, but causes you reputational damage, the NPV of your earnings will be lower than if you moderate your pricing, knowing that you're forgoing immediate profits for future stream of profits.

If you mean weight slightly higher, better grip, improved steering and suspension, then yes . G8x is not much heavier than F8x according to cars that have actually been weighed.

It will be more expensive, but it has to be priced below the M3 still.

Yeah, it will at some point, but most likely a year or so is my guess.

There have been two in the past month pop up for $55.9k and sold literally within 10 hours of being listed.

My question is, who in the world is paying close to sticker for a used M2 with 10,000+ miles? Cause they seem to be selling lol

9k miles, 2020.

I almost bought that one! My dad use to work at the dealership but, I didn't act quick enough. I'm actually glad though. When I factored in shipping and financing, the difference between new and used was a couple thousand...which is freaking crazy.

Might just pull the trigger...

Already has the upgraded wheels and cs lip spoiler (special content or whatever package with the two-tone seats).

Best price I've found yet based on the year. What's the catch

Good deal if that's a Special Content Package, especially if it's a 6MT. Those are no longer possible to buy new.

Used. I'm most likely going to go for a used one, new are pretty much all sold.
My CA may still have one allocation.

I actually managed to get an allocation but had to cancel as I need a car much sooner than July.

My E46, unfortunately, was an SMG and the pump just went last week so it's at the shop getting a manual swap and will be there for 5 weeks.

I've been on Auto Trader/Auto Tempest/Car Gurus etc.. etc.. pretty much everyday for the past few weeks waiting for something reasonable to come on the market.

One was on Carvana, 2020 with 5k miles sold for $55k, was about to go with it but literally sold within one day of listing.

Second one was on Autotrader in Atlanta, 2020 Certified with 3,000 miles listed at $55.9k, emailed them Wednesday night, by Thursday morning they had already sold the car.

Today I seen the one in Texas, special content edition, ~1500 miles DCT 2021 listed at ~$62k.

I'm either going to go with that one or give up until prices come back down to reality.

Get a cheapo rental car and just wait for your custom order!

I saw that car on Carvana - their prices went up in the last month. They have two 2020s now for $57500 and $58900.

There's a 2021 at Net Car Showoom in Houston that's been reduced a few times, sub $60k now. There might be a deal there to be made to get the car gone if it is still sitting.

I agree that renting a car for $400/month using a corporate discount rate you find online is a better move than overpaying for a used car.

The market is going to be tight for a while, even and Avis and Hertz are buying used cars at auction because they do not have inventory to rent.

To make it worse, Intel said that chips shortage is going to last for 2 years, F share dropped a 10% when they slashed their sales guidance for the next quarters because the scarcity of chips

Yeah, glad I am part of this forum to knock some sense into me before making a silly decision

Although, that 2021 special content seems like its priced correctly. Aren't the wheels alone $1500 upgrade from standards?

Chiming in...

I gave up on the search entirely. Some of the prices in Tampa are the dumbest I have seen. A dealership wanted to quote me $63,500 for a 2020 used with 8000 miles on it.

Are people actually purchasing at these prices? Please tell me no...

New 763s will run you around $3400 without caps and TPMS sensors.

I agree that the car seems priced well compared to most every other m2 I've seen. Makes me wonder what is wrong with it.

They’re selling a used car for MSRP. Nothing wrong with it. It’d be insane to ask more. The owner probably had buyers remorse and the dealer doesn’t see extra value in the content package.

If there is anything wrong with it you’ve got 4 years of factory warranty for BMW to sort it out.

Yeah I don't understand the market.

I was test driving a 2020 M2C, pulled it back into the dealer's lot and then found out it had sold. That was listed at $59,900 with very low miles (5k I think). Also missed out on the CPO car in Atlanta.

Now considering buying new. I hear financing for new M2C is 0.9%, any idea what the rates on CPO cars are?

If you're considering new, you'll want to act fast. I think my CA may only have one allocation left, and I'm not sure if it's still configurable.
