So he's purchased bm for $600 plus the cable, waited 3 weeks for the cable, attempted to install and was told it won't work it needs to be bench unlocked but they can't do it and that he'll have to pay a local shop to do it. That's pretty effed up. PTF but up a disclaimer on your website!! This is super shady! I get my M2C on the 28th, I'll be spending my money elsewhere.
Everybody knows about this update, i bought my car 6 months ago and thought i could do the same thing.

Before buying the license i did a little research i found out i couldn't obd tune it without removing the DME.

There are a few companies that can bench unlock his DME
Not everyone knows about this and FYI if you go to the site selling this (protuning freaks) even they don't disclose this. All they do is tell you dme removal not required and here's a link to buy an enet cable on amazon. Click on the pic below to see their website:

Website has been updated even though its been stated here multiple times as well as on social media accounts and our main FAQ page as well. bootmod3 has a 30 days money-back guarantee and that includes being unable to flash without unlock. Stay healthy and all the best

Flashed my car over the weekend at AutoTalent and now I'm trying to connect to change settings but it's not registering via obd? Went through trouble shooting and can't figure it out

99% of the people knew about the update and if they didn't know they researched online regardless of what it says on your website like you should do anyway. Just my 2 cents.

My M2c software has the old version which is obd flash-able.

If I tune my vehicle with BM3 and later down the road the Dealer updates my DME without my knowledge and locks my DME and cannot be flash via OBD anymore. Can I request a refund?

I have a feeling you can request it. But it will be denied.

I’m sure you can’t but you could always pull the DME for bench unlock then

Easier said then done. I paid for OBD unlock and flash capability via OBD not bench unlock. So who will pay for bench unlock if in the future my DME gets locked by bmw? BM3? I highly doubt it.

Again, easier said then done.

Good point. The BM3 purchase for $595 includes OBD unlock capabilities. Since I have to remove my dme (pita) ship it back and forth and pay a shop to bench unlock it, the BM3 should be discounted to reflect that.

BM3 entire business model is based on OBD unlock/flashing. Not bench unlock.

I know, I was agreeing with you. If $595 includes obd unlock and tune then a bench unlock and tune should be cheaper given the additional labor needed as well as the amount spent at a tuning shop to bench unlock the dme since ptf won’t accept any dme shipments due to covid-19.

So you want a refund from buying an "as-is" product that did work when bought (so it was not a misrepresentation) and was in breach of your warranty agreement with BMW, but then you want a refund when BMW updates your system per their warranty agreement.....?

Idk man, seems ridiculous to me. At best you may have an argument to get a partial refund for the purchase price minus depreciation of the license for the amount of time you had it installed before the lockout. Imagine trying to calculate that.

Circumstances changing after the sale/agreement is not their problem. Plus, your tune is technically for off road use only and against emissions in nearly every state.

As always, when you mod, you have to do the research and take responsibility when shit goes wrong.

If the circumstances change after a while (DME update by BMW dealer) i don't see why it should be a matter of BM3.

This is great to hear. Lack of transparency may have been an oversight initially but it took a long time to get cleared up and the incorrect info didn't pass the sniff test. I actually want BM3 and I want to support people that make great products. I'm glad it's all above board now and look forward to pulling my DME this winter 😊

Outside of monitoring this thread, what's the best way to stay informed as to when or if you'll successfully develop a flash for the 2020 S55?
(Without having to do a bench unlock).

If they work under the hood it's a patch via DME connectors that allow to flash via OBD, no reason to work under the hood if the OBD port is free.
