All CA's know is how to cash their commission checks. Mine is a really nice guy actually but he isn't a car guy and doesn't take the time to become informed beyond what is in a sales brochure. Service Advisors are not much better either.

Totally agree. My CA and SA are both very knowledgeable and outstanding people! I have recommended them both to many people.

My dealer has provided a 220 to drive around in until it's all sorted out....but I want my M2
I wonder if the time it takes to supply and fit the diff is predicated on the likelihood that the customer might sue? US seems to be ahead of the game, Canada not far behind. See a pattern? UK? Allegedly mine is the first to be repaired in the UK (today)... Now, where on the map is Germany relative to the UK? The cynical part of me coming out? Maybe. Like others, I am more than a bit annoyed that I had a new car I could drive for a week, sat on my drive for 3 weeks, and is now being 'repaired' so I can drive it again. A letter in the post from BMW apologising for the inconvenience and explaining the fix and hopefully providing some comfort for the future would be the least to expect... If this is not a once only fix I certainly would question myself ever coming back to the brand...
One word, Brexit. You pissed off the Germans.....

I've been on both sides [Audi and BMW] before the Soldier life so I think I have a fair perspective. While the 230 is about the least expensive car BMW sells I do believe I'm entitled to returned calls and emails. It's simple courtesy. I also had a really bad experience with my ST in that I was too lenient with the sale guy and he just sat in his ass and I did all the work trying to figure out where my order was and what was going on. So, there are times when some salespeople will just take the easy sale and not put in the hard work to keep people informed.

This is the problem with the DCT being too powerful. Maybe turn down the aggressive shifting a bit and don't launch the car until the fix has been made?

You're not making sense. This affects manual & DCT.

Agree!!!

My dealer says things like 'that's the warranty is for'!!

Yes, pisses me off too!

So, the dealer says it is a 2 day job, but then if they forgot to order the bolts that need to be ordered separately THAT I TOLD THEM ABOUT BEFORE I WENT ON HOLIDAY 3 WEEKS AGO, we wouldn't now have my M3 up on a lift waiting for a VOR order to arrive next Tuesday (bank holiday weekend of course). Owned car for about 6 weeks, driven it for 2 weeks so far...

I must have been bad in a last life. I part/exed in my A45 AMG for this new M3 after 4 months of ownership because it had a dodgy gearbox (see the thread for that particular!!).

The frustrations voiced, while understandable are kind of humorous. People build up their ED as some magical unicorn pivoting around their car. I would argue that the car is a small piece of it - I mean common, assuming you follow BMW break in you're limited quite a bit for 1,200 miles. Having lived in Germany for three years with my e90m3 and then my F83m4 I can tell you, other than looking good, you're going to get blown by with some Opel station wagon driven by a soccer mom going 220+km/hr. Lol.

Stuff happens in any business model (you're not that special hopefully they communicate issues in a timely manner and give you reasonable options. take the loaner. Drive the hell out of it and enjoy your trip. Take a ton of photos. Go to the ring, go to Spa, enjoy the alpine roads. You won't regret the trip.

Your M will be waiting for you

You've missed the major part of it - that you're doing it in your own car.

Ok. So objectively, what does doing it in your own car offer? A satisfaction that you drove their roads which are not unlike ours except for Germany with portions of unlimited speed that you won't even begin to test. Again, I sympathize to a degree, because it's your car and your experience, but to me you do the ED for the experience, not because you can say years from now that your car logged those miles. What gets me is the whiners who have exaggerated complaints. S$it happens. Make the most of it.

VPC - vehicle prep center

VDC - vehicle distribution center

Thusly it goes from one to the other. Work is done at the former. And the vehicle is shipped from the latter. You should get a release to carrier once your vehicle has been released from the VDC onto the truck or train that will be routing it to your dealer.

Yea, I somehow concur.

I'm being honest & I been blown by Skoda, and even Hyundai on autobahn. It is hard to stay on the left lane for long. There will always be some crazier cars whether exotic or not right up your rear even at 150 miles/ hour.

When I was there for my ED I was the autobahn cruising along around 120mph when I see someone coming up my rear fast. So I pull over as quickly as possible to let him pass, and as he pulls alongside, I see it was my car's twin. He slowed enough to flash me the peace sign, then he was gone as fast as could be. We got a pretty good laugh about that.
