My car was ordered February 29th car was delivered to the port of Newark July 6th and has been waiting since I have an expected status of September 4th delivery but no gurrenttee. If anyone should be pissed it's me my car this whole time was a priority 1 car shows how much Bmw cars had to extend my lease 4 times

Man that really sucks. I would be going nuts. I am just hoping my car gets out of Germany soon. They told me I'd hear from a specialist but I doubt that will happen

That's pretty crazy. Is your car on the priority list?

Mine has been fixed, was ready yesterday, picking it up today.

Large victory for you and a small victory for the rest of us but hey its progress!! Congrats and hopefully this means some movement for other cars. The case worker on my car told me today precisely nothing...other than I am sorry for the trouble...grrrr.

I am doing my best to be patient but i want my car!! LOL

Genius told me today that my car was "released to be carrier" from port Hueneme. Hopefully means I'll get it soon.

Mine's at the same port. Out of curiosity do you know when you ordered your M?

I don't know if it will help some of you or not but I will share my experience. First I want to say I think this problem is bigger than BMW is telling us. We just got our X6 50i that was built in November 2015 back from the dealership earlier this week because of the rear diff. I don't know for sure if the diffs are the same (just different housings) between the platforms but seems odd that there is rear diff issue that is spreading like wild fire and it affected my X6 with a PD of almost a year ago that was presenting the same issues that the stop order was issued for. Also, my service advisor seemed very taken aback when I mentioned the stop order.
I will say this... keep the pressure on your dealer if you already have your car and it's affected. The diffs (as of July 25th) were only available in Germany and my dealership told me two weeks just for delivery. They can submit overnight requests if they want so be sure to ask about it. The dealership still had my car for almost three weeks due to diagnostics and then the shipping and repair.
I know this fails in comparison for what most of you are going through but I feel your pain. Our X6 only had 4,000 miles on it when this happened. Just think everyone needs to keep an eye on other models outside the current model range and keep BMW's feet to the fire! Good luck to everyone!

I picked my M2 up yesterday, after 6 weeks waiting at the dealer for a rear diff while I was making payments.

The issue is definitely much worse than it seems. This is not yet official, but at least for M2's, all the cars built from start of production in November 2015 to the July 2016 cutoff date will be getting new rear diffs.

But it's not a recall...just a campaign...avoids them being in the public eye. It's BS and we all know it.

So if my car finished production 15.07.2016 (MY2017). Am I clear of the recall? The car was delivered 8.8.16. I have heard the rapid "can noise" from the rear a few times, but don't think this is the diff...

Recalls are for safety issues only. It is not because they are trying to avoid anything. Do you think BMW enjoys replacing all these diffs that were made by a vendor?

I guess wearing out your gears and losing the differential clutch pack after 10-15,000 must be pretty safe

I talked to my GM about this at length over the last few weeks my car was stuck, and while it is not a safety issue now, it will be once you hit that mileage. They've caught it early enough to skirt around calling it a recall.

And I'm sure they're not happy, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place or at least have been caught before 10 months of production went out...

I decided to give it a shot and call for an update today. My car shows that the work order is complete. The rep confirmed that that means the rear diff repair has been completed. She said she had no date for pick up at the moment. Since I'm doing PCD I don't expect her to have one. I asked for numbers to the PC, called the number she gave me and the lady that answered there informed me I had to email them and/or get my CA to send in the paperwork. Luckily my CA has already filled all of that out and sent that to the PC. I have never had a delivery date from them. I was informed (via email) that they do not schedule PCD dates until the vehicle has arrived and cleared customs and what not. I'm trying to grab the earliest date available since I'm only a 3hr car ride from there.

Can anyone share their experience dealing with them? They don't seem to be very friendly with their email only mindset. I mean, no phone calls? Come on!

It's scheduled for delivery at the Performance Center next week. As excited as I may be, I won't relax until I am driving it off the lot.
