Got the M2 M Performance Exhaust and can recommend it.

True that it comes at a price, but you get some benefits that most aftermarket tuners cannot offer:
  • sounds very good (deep growl, rather than high pitched rasp or questionable fart can sounds);
  • open and close valves with a remote control ('track mode' vs 'sport mode');
  • BMW quality (no 'limp mode' issues, as some reported about their third party aftermarket exhaust);
  • you get BMW guarantee for the part;
  • you don't void the BMW car warranty;
  • you get a BMW document confirming that it's an official BMW part (which you can show to whom it may concern if need be: car inspection, police, etc.);
  • better influence on future car resale value than with a third party aftermarket exhaust.
Here's a clip of a friend doing a series of pulls with my car to show the different modes. Static display, no cold start. Try to imagine how it sounds with a cold start, or when warmed up and under load.

Just got my M2 with MPE exhaust When I came back home, this is how the tips looked and still look at the moment even if I tried to clean with water/soap/alcohol... Anybody has that bad oxydation? I sent an email to the dealer to ask for some cleaning or to replace the 4 tips.

Does anyone know how the Bluetooth valve controller is paired to the exhaust? I just purchased a used MPE off a forum member and it didn't include the controller. So I purchased one from my dealership and now I'm wondering how I'm going yo pair it.

Any difference on the drone for the guys LCI M2's and the MPE?

I'm week 47 and really want the MPE, but the reviews concerning the drone is really holding me back.

Question: Does the bluetooth street/track mode controller come with the US version or only the EU version?
I assumed all, but I read something the other day that made me think it's an EU-only thing.
Or am I confusing that with the red trunk button?

Definitely comes with the US version. Not sure about the red button, my 2017 M2 was a Week 6 build.

No such coloring inside the other 3 exhaust pipes.

Would have expected the same phenomenon on the right exhaust pipe (outer pipe) located on the right hand side of the car, as it equally features a butterfly valve. But as I said, it ain't the case.

Over 25K kms clocked.

All four of my tips are nice and blue, looks cool. The exhaust has definitely gotten louder too!

Makes the full Akropovic system on my M4 sound tame!
Just clarifying.. your BMW dealer didn't have any problem with you having a Fabspeed sportcat installed? I'm considering the same thing but don't want to cause issues with servicing at the dealer, and warranty etc..

To be clear, it was the tech who thought it was cool. My dealership has a majority of techs who are BMW owners and enthusiasts. They love the mods I have done to my cars, even the service advisor is cool about it. With the that said, I suspect in the event I had a warrenty issue all the positive energy could go out the door as BMW might step in to determine a course of action.
I have been buying all my cars from them with the exception of the M2 PE. I was late to the dance on that one, and the dealership wasn't even aware of the existence of the PE. They claimed only top dealers were allocated these, IDK the accuracy of that statement. But the tech did notice the Fabspeed car and did in fact comment on the quality of the unit. Hope this helps, somewhat. I suspect if push came to shove and you had an issue you could always swap it out before returning to the dealer, it's rather an easy install, way easier than installing dp's on a N54 135! Been there done that, and don't want to go down that road again, ever. The M2 I would do in a heartbeat.

Just received my LCI in Canada and the MPE came with bluetooth controller -
and I believe that's the way it is for all of North America. From what I've read, the red trunk button is EU only.

The red button is there to unlock the Bluetooth remote control. So all exhausts comes with Bluetooth remote, but the second generation in Europe has additionally the red button which allows the operation of the remote control only if the red button is pressed once after the engine has been started. This is because the "Track-Mode" only should be used on track.

There is a solution with a bridge to permanently bypass the red button already existing and circulated in German forums.

When I was considering an MPE on my new LCI, the French dealer said he would move the button to the glove box free of charge. In the end I went for a different exhaust.
