Wow. Very sad to hear. RIP. Be careful everyone, just last night E60 M5 flew past me doing over 120 for sure and driving recklessly on a busy highway with construction zone.

Surprised more airbags didn't go off... But like others have said hard to survive a direct drivers side door impact

Terrible tragedy. This guy was just like any other owner of a new BMW; probably excited and enthused. RIP.
Just remember that traction control is there for our safety; not all of us are Chris Harris meant to drift around every corner on an empty road. Save that type of hooliganism for the track of a safe open area. I feel the YouTube era makes everyone think they are driving superstars when they are not. This is particularly important when driving a potent car that is new to you...takes time to learn how it behaves!

Especially lateral G forces. THe body is least tolerant forces on that axis (as opposed to fore/aft or up/down).
IIRC from flight school, as little as around 10 G laterally can tear the aorta (abdominal aorta is most susceptible, I think). If that happens you don't survive, regardless of external injuries or the lack thereof.

The IIHS (US crash-testing) awarded the 2 series platform a 4/5 star side-impact safety rating..
Just goes to show you that not of that ish matters when it's your time to go.. https://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/ve...oor-coupe/2018 |

The crash in Scotland was clearly someone getting full of themselves showing off. On the other hand we have no idea the circumstances of the crash in Germany with the M2C. For all we know he could have avoided a car, animal, bicycle etc. It doesn't seem likely but ya never know. Since he is no longer with us to speak for himself, I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Getting killed in a side impact where the frame was barely damaged doesn't instill confidence for me.
I guess we won't know what actually caused the death. I suppose sometimes your head can hit the window wrong and will kill you. |
