Thanks for the heads-up, Sir.

Added to the first post of this thread:

EDIT 1 BY Artemis:
This car has been announced in this thread ("Someone in US is getting a San Marino Blue M2 Competition") (March 2019):

EDIT 2 BY Artemis:
M2 Competition featuring Individual paint, see also this thread ("Individual color on M2 Competition: 3 Frozen colors scheduled to be built") (August 2018):

It's not fake. Every BMW employee can look this up in the system.

It's a 6MT and doesn't feature the sunroof option.

"Sorry, got no spare change to add M-DCT and sunroof".

There is literally a thread about this billionaire right under this one.
Who say he's a billionaire... He probably got paper to buy a soup-up M2 but you billion dollar is a a lot of money.

With a billion dollars you can afford to have 5 ex-wives all driving X5s and a personal butler; why would you want to purchase an M2 when you can get Lambos and Ferraris or even some high end Mercedes.

Not even try to sound arrogant, just saying.

Say you do spring for an M2, I assume a wealthy business savvy person would not spend 24k on paint, on principle..

I could be wrong..
I think you're really splitting hairs at this point. Michael fux is wealthy enough to not give a fuck. Have you seen the amount of custom rolls Royce he has? He has custom paint that he named!
Of course a I've seen custom Rolls Royce; I go online and build one every time I play the lotto.

My Rolls comes up to $525,000, a slightly little more expensive than an M2, so if the paint option cost me 25k, it's still within the realm of being reasonable.

Just because we found the one eccentric rich person with a few bucks to burn on a M2, doesn't mean reasonable rich people would follow suit and make such a poor financial move on a vehicle that has very little pizzazz to their caliber of vehicles.

I'll tell you what, you find me one other human on this planet that spent 25 to 50k as Mr. Fux did on an M2's paint option and I'll change my tune.

BMW is simply offering this option to create buzz and I commend them because it's working so far. They really don't expect anyone to bite.

Watch this story pick up more traction with auto journalists within the next few months and in turn free advertisement for the M2.
I don't think they want anyone to bite. One friend of mine went to college with some rich Chinese kids and they would buy new M3s and then when they went back to China they would just abandon the car in the parking lot because they didn't know how to sell it and it wasn't worth it to them to learn how to get the paper work etc. It's no secret people with a lot of money sometimes waste it. There was guy in this forum who like bought I think an m2, sold it, bought an lci, sold it, bought a Porsche I think, sold it bought m2c, now maybe he selling that buying an used m2 lci? I forget the exact order of events but obviously money could have been saved with better planning but he made choices that cost him a lot of money on cars that are lesser than super cars.

How rich would I have to be to pay 25k for paint? definitely not a billionaire, but I guess I'd want it to be sure it's a car I want to keep for a long time.

Many are correct that the costs are due to the amount of logistics involved but also you are disrupting a serial production line by doing so. So factor in the costs for the disruption as well to the bill.

So why offer it then if it throws your assembly line a tizzy, it's not that serious.. M2 customers is still going to buy the vehicle, regardless of the paint option.

I wish it had red seats but that discouraged me for like 2 seconds and I moved on.

They're offering this for the hype, everyone is going to talk about it like the $15,000 Apple Watch; nice conversation piece but no one in their right mind would actually buy it.

Marketing is changing, word of mouth is the most effective tool, nowadays.

The 24k isn't hard to believe. What is hard to believe is there so many people on this forum that can't fathom people rich enough to not give a damn about 24k. Do the math. If Mr Fux is worth 500mil, that is the equivalent of 50 bucks to a standard millionaire.

How can someone in their right mind pay 24k for "paint" ?

This is short of idiotic.

It's like 30% of the cost of the car is paint

I just spent $50 on spam (so delicious), crackers, and protein bars at Costco. As I was leaving, some random Internet tough guy yelled at me, "You're an idiot! You think you're some kind of millionaire or something? Who in their right mind would spend $50 on that crap?"

If Mr. Fux was actually worth $500MM, he sure as shit would not be buying an M2, of all cars, and that is for damn sure.

I just don't get why people think they know what a person would spend on something or how much they'd spend on it. Do you know Mr. Fux? Are you his spokesman/woman? His PA? His Mom? It's absolutely absurd to say well he's worth 500 million so there is no way he'd buy a M2. What are you Professor X and can read his mind? Why care or bother to speculate on what dude spends his money on. Look. I like many on this forum think putting AY on M2C is ugly and not a good way in general to spend an extra 24k(I thought I saw the window sticker on here somewhere and the paint was like 12k and the rest of loot was for CF goodies) on a M2C. But again who cares? dude was up in Goodwood designing his own custom RR with a paint they named after him. Plus it looks like he gives a lot to kids. He's cool enough to me in my book. I could care less that he dropped all them extra greenbacks on the least popular M color on one of the newest hottest M car. CHEERS

So I read this post last night about the San Marino then clicked on this tread about I guess same dude doing a AY M2. Then I just posted about this thread without realizing I had them mixed up so my I definitely made a mistake there. But I still don't care what any rich person does with there money even if it maybe not the most popular thing to do on Bimmerpost as kind as is not Evil shit it hurting kids or dogs. Maybe he's trolling everyone here??? Wouldn't that be freakin hilarious
