Doesn't seem very wet, maybe just the slightest bit damp in the actual race video. The M2 surprised me with its outright grip off the line. To even compete with the A45 in a 1/4 mile drag race is amazing considering how good the A45 is off the line. Just shows the M2 is putting out considerable power

Did anyone actually watch the race? They both got off the line equally, I'd even argue the M2 got the better launch, then the 4WD is just sapping power and adding weight, yet the M2 doesn't overtake.

Those that think that this track was even the slightest bit damp (let alone wet), have never ran on a proper 1/4 track that hasn't been prepped properly or has had a dusting of rain. Neither car would get below 16 secs, let alone 13 secs if that track was wet as it would be a fecking ice rink (wet rubber on wet rubber). Just because the vid has rain at the start, doesn't mean it was wet when they ran the cars.
Going back to the actual race, it's a great result for the M2 getting mid 12's and low 4's from rwd I doubt they would achieve that if they did this run 10 x in a row, as it's obviously much more tricky to get off the line than the A45. But still a great result. Also, anyone thinking that the M2 will dust the A45 in a rolling race are going to be in for a shock. Although I haven't had chance to Vbox a stock M2 yet, I have already ran the A45 many times (both pre-FL and FL) and the FL would be with the M2 to very high speeds IMO. I have seen high 10's 100-200kmh from a stock FL A45 (low 9's when flash tuned) and this is comfortably quicker than my old flash tuned 135i N55 DCT (which dyno'd near identical figures to the M2). Don't underestimate the 45, that's all I will say. They don't lose as much through the transmission as you would think due to the fact they run the haldex set up and aren't full time 4wd. |
