What's a well optioned M2C in SEK. I'm beginning to believe that US base price, and base price in other markets is significantly different as the US base has more equipment speced???

Fast doesn't always equal fun. But fun feels fast.

"Well optioned" is a matter of opinion, but my sporty spec comes to about 720.000 SEK with DCT and M Sport brakes and M4 seats. Adding some comfort niceties you're likely to end up closer to 740.000 SEK. Ticking almost every option except M Drivers package would set you back 765.000 SEK.

The cat is out the bag (at least for Germany) (source: BMW Group PressClub Global - see here):
"Prices for the BMW M2 CS start at €95,000."Add only M-DCT and a metallic body color (BSM, HS or MB) and you're looking at €100K for this über 2 Series car. If you buy this über 2 Series in Germany:
So, yeah, that's the sobering scenario of the price guesstimate poll discussed in this thread. My ± 150% guesstimate was accurate, unfortunately. Quote:
Furthermore, with signs of another significant economic crisis expected for Spring/Summer 2020, timing is unfortunate.

So roughly $80k to 85k for the US. It's definitely going to be big bucks in Canada, probably
close to 100k. I will just wait for the new M2 and keep enjoying my wonderful original M2. |

If so that's €73,150 which would then convert to $81,197. I've heard a rumor from a BMWNA employee that it will be "in the 70's". Really hoping that's true!!

Base price = 6-speed manual transmission + non-metallic body color (Alpine White).

Why have they released pricing in these other markets, but not US market. Edit:. There is further hope for slightly lower price. A UK M2C equipped like the US spec is roughly £57k with base price of £50k (These are OTR prices). US is $63k and applying the same 28% increase would be $80k. This is for 6MT. This jives with my above numbers of $81k for 6MT. That's pricey. I'd likely not equip CCB as an option at this price because the car will be borderline overpriced for the market at $81k. You'll never see the money spent on CCB. If the M2CS falls victim to the same pricing fiasco as the bigger siblings, then you've pissed away a lot of money as you'll loose the large depreciation Delta, and cost of CCB. The positive is that the M2CS won't have as far to fall. It's clearly worth more than the C. So even at $85k that's only a $20k Delta. And the CS is easily worth $10k more than the C. My point is that there is much less risk to the M3/M4CS pricing issue since the CS will not sell for C prices. Last edited by medphysdave; 11-06-2019 at 08:23 AM.. |

Thanks for the post Dave. I agree CCBs are too expensive and you most likely not recoup the costs on a resale. Not worth it as normal brakes are good enough.
Regarding price, I need an automatic so Cayman GT4 is out. There may be a PDK version in a Cayman RS but that will be likely $130k plus another $20k in options. GT4 RS won't be here until 2021 or so and will be hard to get an allocation. 992 911 turbo will be $160k plus another $20 in options. 992 911 GT3 will probably be at least $155k plus another $20k in options. I built a 992 911 Carrera S and arrived at $130k with modest options. Some are on dealer lots for $150k or more. My point is at say $85k base that the M2 CS for someone who needs an automatic is a bargain. Plus it will be rare and unique unlike a 911carrera S. I'm not interested in the used car market. Nor any interest in AMG or Audi. |

I agree, it's still somewhat of a bargain when you look at the performance vs function when compared to the market. "Expensive" is relative to the person opening their wallet. Some won't be able to reach it, some will stretch, some will be comfortable with it, and others will look at it as saving them $40k-$60k because they didn't feel the need to go buy a new P-car.
If it was mid 70s I was planning to add CCB, at mid 80s I will not. |

I don't like this new trend of new car releases where they do the car release, but not the cost release. This has been done with the RS6 and C8... What do they think holding back the pricing will do? Are they looking to see the discussions from the market before they actually put pen on paper?

Price was decided on a while ago. I think they are trying to create market hype.
