Rear BBK without Dust Shield on Track
In the process of installing a StopTech rear brake kit that uses 380x32 rotors vs the stock 370x24. Removed the heat shield to make it fit, but wondering if I should be concerned about more heat going to the now “exposed” ball joints?
Anyone here running a rear BBK on track without heat shields? Anything to report? Thanks!! Last edited by pal; 09-30-2023 at 02:35 PM.. |

I’m running this one with the 380x32mm disc. Works great. Can’t remember if cut the shields so it’d fit or removed them. Will check.

Sorry to revive an aging thread, but I was just now researching this exact question.
Adding front & rear AP Racing brakes to a 2020 M2c for next season. Install videos on YouTube show dust shields being removed on both front and rear. Can anybody answer whether exposing the ball joints to potentially more heat damages the ball joints? Thank you in advance. |

Thanks OG.
Like an exhaust wrap? Do I use wire to hold it in place? I was also thinking about hacking the original dust shields to cover only the ball joint areas. |

Heat blanket material or wrap like that would work. Wire or clamps to hold in place. |
