I also have a 2021 that has started production. Have you guys noticed that our M Sport calipers are blue and not gray. I just noticed this and I swear it used to say gray or silver.

I noticed that too and thought it was a typo? are we getting blue calipers then instead of the dull gray ones?

It’ll be interesting to see what early 2021 deliveries show online vs what they actually get. I recall having a surprise with my 1M, too, where I received nav but didn’t actually order it.

Yep, I brought this up awhile ago when I ordered my '21 back in June. From my understanding, it's the grey calipers for the NA market. Keep in mind, the blue calipers version is actually inferior to the grey calipers, which are standard for our market

My sheet says: "Status 047- Spec. released-No Quota Avail"

I'm assuming that this means that my dealer didn't get their allocation yet?

I believe the BMW Genius folks can tell you when it’s expected to start, if you have a prod#. Mine is week 32 and currently shows “production begins” and has a VIN. I was told by my CA that “sold” allocations get bumped into production sooner. Not sure if that’s true, since my only other experience was with a 1M.

Didnt you check your dealer has an allocation before you placed the order and put in the deposit?

OG M2s can be found in the mid to high $40s. I’ve yet to see a ‘19+ Competition for anything less than $55k and the ones in that range had higher than average miles and/or extensive mods that suggest “spirited driving”. Clean low mileage ‘19 and ‘20s are going for stupid money when you can order a brand new one for only $2,000 more.

This x 10

It's ridiculous. This market doesn't even make any sense, unless someone is completely clueless.

I gave up on finding a 2019-2020 M2 Comp in 6MT because I couldn't find any with low mileage at a reasonable price. By reasonable, I mean under $55k. Considering that I can (and did) get a brand new one for practically that price, who exactly are these sellers kidding?

Question becomes, why would anyone in their right mind NOT get a new one? (Unless it's a time sensitive matter or you have no patience)

No. It was too early. None of my local dealers had confirmed allocations, and one of them is the highest volume dealer in the area. I just left a deposit for him to place the order once he was able to.

How can you tell if you have a 2021 build M2? I ordered mine on 14th July and it's a week 33 build. Any way to know if that's a 2021 build? Is there actually any difference in spec?

Edit: just to state I am in the UK so don't have access to online build tracker...

You have a '21 build. MY21 switched over in late June. Mine was built a week before yours and it is a MY21.

Also, no difference between '21 to the previous year.

The 10th character in the 17-character VIN represents the vehicle model-year. K = 2019; L= 2020; M = 2021. Also, as others have noted, 2021 models appear to have a piece of black trim over wheels due to a regulation change. Additionally, blind spot indicators on side mirrors appear in online renderings and published description of 2021 model.

I was told by my CA in Richmond that if a dealer has an allocation and is marked “sold” to a customer in the system, it moves into production sooner vs an unsold allocation that’ll sit on a lot. It’s unconfirmed, though.

That is true. Customer sold cars are labeled as a priority 1 on the build sheet. Back in June and early July, BMW was only accepting customer build orders

I got my uk car yesterday. The 10th character of my VIN is 0. Didn’t order as deal bought from dealer last week when car was apparently in Holland en route to the UK. It has the plastic wheel arch edge protectors.

Probably when the g80 m3 and m4 hit the market you'll see used m2c cars start to show up. obviously current m3 and m4 will be dumped into the market too. I think they made enough m2c vehicles that there will be some good used deals, or at least cars coming with upgrades I won't have to pay for like ppf, lighter wheels etc.

I'd suggest contacting your CA or BMW Customer Relations.
