I love me some early spring or late fall driving with the moonroof open, about 40-50 degrees at night with the seat warmer on and just enjoying the fresh and crisp outdoor air while not being blown away by having the windows down!
I completely agree with your sentiments. When I planned on getting a stock M2C, this was my reasoning as well. However, in my mind something switched when I decided to add a few CF bits to the car (Spoiler, diffuser, Mirror caps). Maybe it's because you don't see too many cars with CF bits that also have a moonroof. Or I may be second guessing myself, but feel these accessories fit better with a slicktop.

Ah hard choices, but I don't think there will be a wrong choice in the end. 👍

Just to help others on here. My parents are getting a 5 series and in lieu of doing ED because of COVID are doing PCD. Just got the below from the SA in response to question about scheduling PCD as the car went into production today. This could explain why everyone's orders were cancelled. Parents ordered back in January.

Also, for context this is one of my trusted SAs who has been with BMW (on the dealership, racing, and BMWNA side) for 30 plus years and has done a crap ton of EDs (including mine). He is very well connected at BMWNA and BMWAG and has never been wrong with the info he has given me. That being said, at the end of the day, he is not management at BMWAG, so this could be partially accurate.

When he says no ED I think he means no ED for orders that weren't already booked before COVID.

Thank you for sharing Thescout13

Seems like everyone who has ordered will not see production until September and they're using the time until then to clear out the MY20s?

Even with one shift, can't imagine it would still take BMW that long

And if it's September production and we have end of September ED, we may be okay?

That seems insane. I'm among the purged orders.
I kicked up enough dust with BMWNA that someone with executive customer relations got in touch with me. We exchanged information and she said she'll get some additional info and get back with me promptly. I'll post what I learn.

No clue. Followed up with SA and he has no idea either as everything is in flux.

It's impossible enough when you actually know you're getting a car, the date you're getting it and that you'll actually be able to go get it...this, on the other hand, is just miserable!

I've been chatting with the Euro Delivery team at BMWNA (Raven) about my order getting purged - She confirmed she got my request for delivery dates and such, but didn't have any info on why the production was deleted. She is working with people there, in concert with my dealer rep., trying to secure me another car that will still be eligible for ED. I moved my dates back into September and am now in limbo waiting to see if they can lock down another car for me.

Fingers crossed... The waiting is absolutely brutal!!!

You're ordering with Jon Shafer right? Are they going to hold a 2020 until September if they can get you one, or are they going to give you a 2021? How late into September? And what was your build so I can post up top?

Everything is up in the air / based on the conversations with He and Raven, I'm under he impression, if we can work things out for ED, I'll be in a '21 - and hoping timing works out for ED.

Haven't officially given me the "No" on a '20 - which I was hoping for early August delivery.

Will have to wait and see - if I can resecure the '20, I'll be going early August - if it has to be '21, it'll be September - frankly I am indifferent between the two, I just want to be able to do ED :-/

This suspense will just make it all that much better when it happens. I think BMW wants to fill the orders and will find a way.

Hope so. To that end, I heard from Raven at BMW today...she's the one that responds to I think both dealer and customer inquiries re ED. She didn't say for sure I (or anyone) would get an allocation but there was a between the lines mention of when the allocations come out we'll lock your date that kind of leads me to believe you're correct. I mean BMW has to be thinking...the economy isn't great, we're going to produce some more M2Cs, we might as well have them sold, right?

I haven't heard back from her since Monday, just emailed her back. She's probably a bit backed up if there's at least three of us who are talking to her on this forum lol. My CA also left another voicemail.

And fingers crossed you're right!

I also had an email from Raven last week, as I had two separate dealers submit for European Delivery for me. She asked which dealer, I wanted to go with for ED. My dealer was hoping to get 2021 allocation by the first or second week of June. Keeping fingers crossed!

Not sure if everyone is aware, but after you do ED, you can also do PCD. Actually really easy process where once you drop off your car in Europe, they will just ship it to Spartanburg, SC.

That would be one helluva way to pick up your car. And I strongly recommend you to do PCD, a load of fun for your stateside pickup. Also, BMW puts you up for one night with comp meals, which is always nice 👍

Indeed, and trying to figure out if I can wrap this into it...if car is returned in Munich on October 12 and I could pick it up the Wednesday before thanksgiving that would give me enough time to drive back home across the glorious US.
