Musicar NW trunk sub installed

Finally got my amp and sub installed. The amp is installed under the rear deck and is powering the trunk sub and it's also set up to powered the underseat subs. The amp is set up to filter out the low bass frequecies so that the underseat woofers are handling mostly mid-bass duties.

The amp is a JL XD 1000/5v2 and the sub is an Audiofrog GS 10 series sub.

Did you replace any of the main speakers?

Not at this point. I'll give the system some time. At this point I probably don't yet have 12 hours on the speakers. I'll continue to fiddle with things before I make any more modifications.

It sounds better but still not as awesome as the same setup in my old M4 sounded. The bottom end is there now which is a huge improvement. I'm still working on perfecting the blend between the trunk sub, the underseat woofers, and the door speakers. It's tricky. The starting point in this car is quite bad, so getting it dialed in is proving trickier than I thought.

Maybe Musicar can give you a tune?
I added the Match UP - 7BMW amp and all new speakers ( JL audio and SWS under seats. Pretty amazing sound. Could do better on the sub base but still way, way, way better than stock.

How did you mount the amp? I'm looking to do this when I get my M2C.

I mounted it to a piece of 1/2" thick plastic which I then mounted under the rear deck in the trunk. It worked well and kept it out of the way and largley out of sight.

Do you have a close up pic of your amp and how you mounted it? I'm getting my Visual Ice box soon and I'm looking to do something similar. Thanks!

No I don't have that car anymore and I haven't bothered to install anything in my current M2.

Most of us with sub amps (I also have the Visual Ice box in my M2C) mount the sub amp in the area behind the right rear wheel. You need a pretty small amp (I'm running a little JL) but it does fit.

Yeah, I was thinking of that too as I have a somewhat small Amp - Alpine MRV-M500

There's about an inch and a half of clearance for the JL 300/1. Check the height of the Alpine and consider what material you want to use between the amp and the metal floor. I had a friend 3D print small form-factor mounts with high temp material.

What are your impressions of the trunk sub? Big difference?

The box and Audiomobile sub sound AWESOME! ... But everything else was also upgraded (Focal drivers, Mosconi Amps & DSP) so YMMV.

You could also mount an amp in the OEM amp location; but you'd have to replace the OEM amp, which is probably the first thing you need to do.

Hey OP. May i ask where you grounded the amp in the trunk? Did you make a new hole somewhere or you used a current one? If so, which one did you use?
