LBB M2C Unexpected Delivery – SoCal
First shout out to Chas aka mrcheezle19 for making this happen.
I’ve been eyeing the M2C ever since it was announced, but I was not pursuing with full force. Sure I’ve been asking around local SoCal dealers after US allocations came out, and the responses I’ve been getting are: - M2C? We have no allocations for that. - M2C? How about these beautiful 2018 M2s we have in stock with no discount but desperately to sell. - M2C? How about paying a $5K or more markups? - M2C? Sure we can sell to you at MSRP, just sign you name here on the waiting list after 3618327 people ahead of you. All these responses made me hold back on the idea of purchasing the M2C right now and instead to plan on securing an allocation by the end of this year, then slowly de-modding my current 335i, sell it and take delivery of M2C in mid-2019. Then I saw Chas’s post about a LBB M2C available in a dealer 100 miles from me. This car has all the configurations I want except for the wheel color. But to be honest, since eventually I will swap out those heavy wheels to something lighter this doesn’t really bother me. So I PMed Chas, got the contact info, called up the dealer and left a message to SA. At this point, I still thought this is an open allocation that someone else backed out. But when the SA called me back later that day, what he said blew my mind. “Yup, we have a M2C available; right now it is sitting 100 feet away from my desk in our showroom.” Exact words he said. I couldn’t believe what I heard…from the posts I've seen in this forum, there were only handful US delivery made so far, none of them is on the west coast. How could there be one sitting in the lot?! Unclaimed!? The SA told me they got the car this morning from the port, the OG buyer had to bail out due to credit issues, and they just put up ad and already have couple of customers coming in tomorrow to look at the car. Well, you can let those customers know, this car is sold. We finished the deal over the phone that night, they delivered the car to my house the next day, and here I am, newly made M2C owner, still in shock and disbelief... Since I still have my 335i, here are some pics with both predecessor and successor: My first impression of the M2C, please note this is my first M car, I don’t have experience with prior M cars, my only reference is my current 335i which is equipped with pure stage 2 turbo / FBO / throttle body injection kit pushing 500hp: Exterior: - LBB color is stunning. I didn’t go for HS as I’ve seen LBB M2s and really amazed by the color. - The exhaust box looks even worse in person. It is just awfully hideous and awkward. But I guess this is a distinguish way to tell this is a M2C…Going to swap it out for sure, hope the MPE will look better. - LED headlights, M mirrors, black side and rear badges all look great. - The bi-color wheels look decent, better than I expected. Interior: - There is sufficient head room. I am 6 ft tall, after I adjust my seating position properly there is plenty room left above my head. - Seats are good. Comfortable enough for daily driving, holding me in place perfectly. But for long drives I think they would be a bit harsh. Blue stitching looks great. - Storage is lacking. Not too much space in center armrest area, there is some on the door panel but overall it is not much. - Cheap plastic everywhere. I mean they are all over the place, dash, center console, door panel , etc. - Dry CF trim looks decent. Better than I expected, blends in well with alcantara element, although I still prefer the gloss CF trim in my 335i. Driving experience: - I know there is a lot of debate and doubt on the sound, but I have to say I love it. Even when I hear it with window down, and standing at the outside, without ASD it still sounds pretty good. I can’t compare it with the roar from my straight dp / Remus sport exhaust equipped 335i, but I feel it sounds much better than M3/M4. - Power is strong and linear. I did not push it over 5k rpm as it needs to break in, but I can feel it was eager to run and has a lot more to offer. - DCT transmission is bossing. Shifting is so quick, and of course, gotta love the auto rev matching. - Handling is super. I did not feel the heavy weight of the car at all. Steering is very precise. Only thing is I feel the steering is a little light, even with Sport+ setting. I have not driven on the curvy backroads yet but I can already tell the car corners extremely well. Overall I am super pleased with the new M2C. I signed up for the half day M driving session in late Oct. I was planning to test out M2, M3 and M4 during that event before I make the purchase, but now I am able to show up with my brand new M2C, who would have thought |

one more thing to share, the lease term and purchase APR:
For Lease I was offered the term below: - with $3,000 down - 3 year lease at 10K miles / year - MF of 0.00602 - Residual value at 47% For purchase options I was offered below: - with $3,000 down - 60 month at 4.15% APR - 72 months at 4.85% APR I went with the purchase option and currently looking for a credit union with better rates to payoff BMW financials. |

Btw, are you sure about the 0.00602 MF? It corresponds to 14.4% APR compared to the current M3/M4 MF of 0.00166 (3.9% APR). I knew leasing was bad for M2 due to low residuals but didn't know they jacked up the MF this much. |

This is a LBB-related question. Not a single picture I've seen online of the LBB M2C makes it look like a 2018 LBB M2 that I've seen in person, out in the sunlight. You say your LBB M2C looks stunning and that you've seen previous LBB M2s. Do they look exactly the same in person?

Congrats OP! i'm non-patiently waiting for my HS M2C. A huge consideration that was holding me back from getting the M2 was the plastic interior. It feels like a took a major downgrade in the interior department by selling my CLS for it.

That sure does seem like an extreme dealer markup of the MF.

Congratulations and thank you for the feedback on the car!

They are the same. We installed Long Beach Blue painted reflectors onto a 2019 M2 Competition and it is the same as the 2018 M2.

OP, that color and the stock wheels on the M2C look great together.
Did the dealer mark up the price over MSRP?

I assumed as much but with the way everyone's obsessing over colors (myself included), I wanted to confirm with someone that's seen the 2019 edition up close. This is largely due to the large variability I've seen in LBB depictions when searching on the internet. Thanks to the OP and IND for confirming.
