My error in the above when looking closely at the DIY instructions is that I had the pin order wrong. I had #1 in #6 and so forth. Working now
EDIT: Also as a note - the black plastic cover (to where the pins are) can be separated from where the pins are. This means you can quickly switch around the pin lay out without having to re-pin the adapter. Last edited by Aust350z; 06-26-2019 at 07:51 PM.. |

Anyone falling this guide. I had the opportunity to scan a 2018 M240 curious to see what the voltage settings that were set for the lights and it turned out to be 100% 0x64 instead of the recommended 13.7v found in the guide. I'm sure you won't damage anything but anyone looking for an OEM coding this appears to be the answer and this is for all of the second part of coding where voltage is changed in this DIY guide. Negative, seems to only be an out of factory issue from what I've seen/read on here. I think someone said the intermittent warning on the LCI's can be attributed to a loose ground wire. Since us Pre-LCI guys have to repin our harnesses when doing this retrofit it makes sense why we wouldn't have this problem (unless there is installation error).

Just installed my new Euro Spec LCI taillights. Super easy installation, and it transforms the rear end of the car!

Newb question. I have a US spec 2020 M2C. Currently living in Stuttgart, DE and I have the LCI US spec lights. Super bright red blinker. I really want the EU spec lights with the amber blinker. Would that just be plug and play for me? I should already have a six pin connector right?

First I'm hearing/reading about that error. I may just go to BMW Stuttgart and ask for these taillights direct. Depending on their price but I can avoid the VAT that way. Still doing some research but I'll post what happens here when I'm finished.

For anybody curious, the only difference between the US and ROW LCI tails are a green optical filter for the blinker. Blinker LEDs are still red and appear red when not lit, but a red light plus green filter equals yellow blinker when in use. Just FYI.

Green optical filter covering red LEDs equals amber color for the blinker. Perfect example above. Never said anything about fiber optics.

my right indicator basically stopped working and the right tail lights started throwing errors too. No surprise, a pinhole in my pre-lci 8 pin connector was melted as suspected. i see many fixes where people actually split the ground wire, eg what i notice was that the connector in that video seems to be the 6 pin connector, similar to most LCI F22 and was wondering if it's still necessary to split the ground wire to fix this problem permanently? Or if not done, is the 6 pin connector still prone to melting later down the track? I'm using this as an excuse to upgrade my tail lights to the new LCI blacklines but understand that means i'll also have to rewire it to the 6 pin connector and wanted to know if it's still worth splitting that ground wire when i install it. |

I used this thread as a DIY: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1405431 I just taped off the two unused wires. It's been about 3 years and no issues.

so the general consensus I'm getting here (sample size 2 so far) is that most people don't do the ground wire split when they go from 8 to 6 pin when getting new LCI lights. Got it.
