There's different ways to tackle it, here is what I did:

I removed the DCT cover using a card and non-scratch interior trim tools:

I mounted a card and trim tool in the location circled below:

like this...

The drive mode switch has an 'elbow' on either side. I used my trim tool to pry it upwards and unit popped out.

After this you'll need to unclip the connector on the drive switch panel - look for a tab on the connector, press it and pull the connector away from the panel.

Hope this helps
Any tips on replacing the sport comfort switch on the new switch which comes with the sport eco mode. Thanks !!!

Sure, it's very much like the OP said, an easy swap.
  1. Remove the top cover off the unit.
  2. Hold down the "sport" side of the rocker button.
  3. Using your thumb, pull the "eco" side of the rocker button upwards - it will come off with a bit of persuasion.
  4. To install the old rocker button literally align the rocker button over to where it should be and push down, it'll snap right in.

Here's a quick pic so you can see how it's mounted:

The pivot/fixing point is in the middle.

Not from the research I did. I'm not saying I couldn't be wrong but I think I found images of the back of all of them and they were identical. Any chance you can confirm this?

Sorry, the one i'm getting is also used, although apparently 'like new'.

I did however get a quote for a RHD new one from CotswoldBMWMini who is a member on here from the UK. He was very helpful and was able to provide one at a cheaper price than locally, i just couldn't justify spending $200+ on a new switch in the end. Send him a PM and see what he can do for you.

The one on the left is the 'new' switch with the extra button. The one on the right is the 'old' original switch.

Guys, I got the part as order from BMW, but after installing it I noticed mine says ECO PRO instead of comfort.

I clearly forgot to replace the switch, so now I have to go back to my carand do that as well...

Anyone want to sell their original module (the one without the parking sensor button)? I'm thinking of mounting a volume control for my radar detector where the parking sensor button goes. But I'd need to disassemble the module and I'd hate to screw that up with only one on hand...

For those who doesn't have backup camera option installed from factory, I believe you only to wire 1 additional cable from the console switch to the ICM module to make the P button work.

Sounds simple when you say it quickly.

For those without backup camera from factory, unplug the console switch and check the wire plug if there is a cable for pin 1 *edited - as confirmed by post 135

If pin 1 is missing, then this is the missing wire. You need to make yourself a wire (something like 50-60cm), then route the cable from the console switch cable plug pin 1 to ICM (located under the iDrive controller area) cable plug pin 28

This is not something new and actually how F20 / F30 retrofit the Front PDC option (exchanging the console switch is part of the Front PDC retrofit) and it totally makes sense that F87 follows the same. You can find the official BMW retrofit guide here on page 10 which explains the steps with diagrams how retrofitting console switch is done (and forget the rest).

Now I speak it more slowly, hope it doesn't make it awfully complicated to prevent you from trying I don't own a M2 so I can't verify it unfortunately.
