As I already stated in the other thread, great car great driving. AND it also shows the stock car's 7:58 to even 7:52 (BMW won't state the latter as official due to M3/4 canibalism) laptime is just as impressive, taking into account this is 'only' BTG and not a full lap...

Cheers

Sport Auto's time on the M2 around the ring is 8:01, and M4 non CP is 7:52.

M2 was quicker on the smaller track Hockenheimring 1:12.2 compare to M4 non CP 1:12.8.

BMW almost never publish a official ring time (besides rumoured time here and there), except M4 GTS's 7:28.

BMW informed Top Gear Germany, there is an inofficial time of 7:52 of the M2 at the Nordschleife. Official time is 7:58(M2)

Sportauto had M2 at 8:01 on a partly moist track. They also had a 1:11.9(Uwe Sener) for the M4 Competition @ Hockenheim short(Issue 8/16 vs C63 Coupé, magazine in front of me )
M2 was 1:12.2(Gebhard) and 1:12.5(Uwe Sener)

Any one of these above will get you a couple of seconds over a stock car on your local track and probably 3-4 in this run.
A modified car (see above) doing an equivalent 15 to maximum 18 seconds faster lap then the stock car (estimation compared to the Sport Auto version lap of 8:01, stock M2) , with a good driver. That's something to impress one that has never been on a track or doesn't have a clue of what the NS is all about. Kudos to the driver for the skills and balls to drive the NS at the limit (like Luke usually does), less impressed by the attitude during a trackday, contrary to all the praises for safety and respect on the Ring that a local should (and some media like BTG pretend to) support. Apparently not for quite everyone and sadly, exceptions can be made for some lap time/promotional purpose... When a trackday organizer like Schnelleschwaben not only closes the eyes but promotes this kind of driver conduct, what would you expect during TF? I wonder if the STR (Save The Ring) initiative shouldn't really review some of their assumptions...

Die Mods des M2, so wie wir ihn hier eingesetzt haben, kosten ca: 25k€. Inkl. Arbeitszeit und Steuer.
Das Paket beinhaltet:
- KW Clubsport 3-fach, Laptime-performance Setup (Federn VA)
- Uniballspurlenker HA
- ATS GTR 18"
- Pirelli TrofeoR
- Spoilerlippe
- Heckflügel
- Ladeluftkühler
- Software
- PolePosition inkl. Konsolen
- SCHROTH Gurte
- LITEBLOX LB19xx
- Akrapovic Evolution
^^
Specs of the the actual car driven by Luke. 25k euros inc labour etc. Still cheaper than GT4 which you can bully a bit at the NS with this package.

They also tried OZ 19" wheels with Dunlop Maxx Race, but it was a bit slower, but better for daily use...

So SA only off by 3 sec. compare to BMW's official time? Guess I'm more impressed with SA haha.

Thanks for the info. on M2's official time, didn't know they had one.

Nice video for comparison. lukester 's apex speed in the final corner was ~25kph higher and exit speed was almost ~30kph higher. Incredible driving.

Nice pass on the outside of what looks like a GTI with the rear wheels in the air at the 6:22 mark of the lap timer !!!

sorry but there is no way a "loaded" e46 CSL did 7:22 lap time on the full track.

Thats lower than a GT3 RS 4.0....

It would make more sense if this was a BTG time
