Just curious, why are people surprised at the curb weight? The 2 series is kind of a chubby starting point and based on the information and cost-saving measures BMW used, how did people expect them to lose a lot of weight?

I like everything but the back angle with the lack of large spoiler and those reflectors. Most angles look great. Body colored rear reflectors and larger spoiler for sure.

Wahhh, the mirrors... wahhh...

Who cares? It looks great and will likely perform great on track. Check your priorities. I'd rather my money go towards standard go-fast parts than special mirrors and other crap that only really matters at a car show.

I can see the popular mods being a slight drop, a new rear bumper, a lip for the front, M style mirrors, and better seats.

According to the press release and German BMW website, the EU-spec M2 is heavier than the EU-spec M235i by 40 kg (EU weight, 6MT).

I also wish there were more interior/exterior color options. 4 colors and 1 interior makes it seem like this is meant to be a limited run like the 1M but that isn't what I have read.
I agree about the bumper. The Lexus RC has the same rear-bumper line thing and from the side view it looks bulbous and kind of awkward

Since when is a DCT lighter than a stick car.

I LOVE the car though! I want one badly, just with silver wheels rather than the ugly black. Are the M3 18s avail? This will be one BITCHIN M car! Hopefully we can force a case for a 4 door the way we did in the 90's with the e36.

It looks like a BMW.

The conspiracy theory in me says the gear rations selected are to further improve the DCT cars numbers on paper, both the short 1st gear and the deep (GM like) 7th gear OD to improve gas milage lol.

I don't know if it is the front bumper or the color or what, but from certain angles it looks like the X6M.

If the price difference between this and the m235 is similar in Canada than what was announced for the US, I'm in...
... and #3 on the waiting list at my dealership

Please please make it start around $52K CAD - I don't need any options - well maybe a sunroof 'cause I won't track it.

Really nice styling on the front and sides. Love the rear quarter hiding the massive 19s....

BUT I have to say that I hate the back and specifically the tail lights look like from a 98 civic

Looks badass. I'm excited that we will get the auto rev match seen on the M3/4 manual transmission. I look forward to messing with that. I am interested to know if they made any changes on the turbo in comparison to the one in the M235i because as far as I know that is the bottle neck in maximizing the power output of these cars.

Anyone know how many they plan on making in 2016? How many years do they plan on making the M2? Those 2 questions will determine the value of the 1M in the future and the collectivity of the M2.

7:58 ring time, no slouch, faster than an E92 M3, 8 seconds behind the current M3/M4. Fits in a smaller parking spot. Money left over for a trip to Europe. Yay!

I think not every one has been on the forums as often as some of us who know all of this information. I mean most of us didn't expected it to be lighter than the 235i, so they come on after 2 months and start whining cause they just didnt know. Either that or they are just whiners lol

So $51,000 + $3,000 DCT + $950 destination = $55,000. Not horrible.

Anyone know what the 'Ring laptime is for the M235i ? (I couldn't find one).

Launch video is pretty awesome. You can really see how much bigger it is than even the 1M. I'm glad I am #1 and #2 at two dealers.
