M Performance Steering wheel alcantara maintenance

Hello,

I've placed an order for an MY21 M2C with no options, with the exception of the M Performance Steering wheel. Love the way it looks and feels but being alcantara, you can see my concerns.

What should I use to either preserve it while it's new, or if not, mitigate the wear of the material?

Thank you in advance

I'd like to know as well, as it has kept me from going that route.

I didn’t get one because you lose the heat function.

I keep a soft bristled horsehair brush like this in my car and periodically brush all of my alcantara.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If I need more, I use a small amount of soap and warm water to agitate.

I've heard you can get them custom made to retain the heat though, which is what I'd do. My commute is so short that my heater doesn't have time to actually work, so I rely on my heated seats and steering wheel to keep me warm for the duration. Basically I need them.

Ordered, thank you!

Ended up getting this brush set I think you'd find it a good deal too: https://www.amazon.com/Youngjoy-Piec...dp/B07P5ZTZ7K/

That's good for cleaning which I will utilize for sure, do you use anything that'll preserve it? Same how ceramic coat is a paint preserver, but for alcantara.

Just give it a rub with a baby wipe once in a while, and it will be fine.

I used a damp microfiber towel and rub the alcantra then dry it with another microfiber towel. I do this once every other wash.

That was the route I had planned to go, because I never had a heated steering wheel before the M2 and I love it in the winter.

Got some quotes from one of the top places (PM for details), was going to buy someone else's stock wheel to send away, but decided against it and will probably just end up with M Performance v1 or v2 or M2 CS wheel. Haven't made up my mind.

I too bought an OEM wheel to send off, and will do so at some point, but it'll be a while, have to get a suspension first.

I ended up purchasing Dr Beasley Alcantra cleaner/protection. Granted I only had my m perf wheel on for a few months and I put the stock heated one back on for the brutal San Diego winters, but it’s holding up quite nicely.

I only drive with gloves. My steering wheel has yet to see human oils since delivery.
